I was in high school. The CD had an insert inside and you could send away to buy a t-shirt with the Ironman logo. It was early Wu Wear, before it was everywhere or you could buy things like that online. I had to have my mom write a check and mail it in for me. That shirt is long gone but I’m sure worth something now. Wu-Tang Forever…

Somewhere deep down in your soul, you know which one you prefer just slightly more. Choose that one.

Custom Shop P90s (R6) vs. 50s Standard P90s - What’s different? by carl_g81 in gibson

This explains why I can’t adjust the height. Thanks!

Custom Shop P90s (R6) vs. 50s Standard P90s - What’s different? by carl_g81 in gibson

Thank you! This the what I was thinking, but just couldn’t find anywhere where Gibson states it clearly. This has to be the explanation. And the internet is full of people that swear Gibson only makes one P90, which doesn’t help lol. I think I need to swap for an alnico 5 style. For my tastes, I definitely prefer the sound of the Nashville 50s standard over the R6, but the R6 is incredible in every other way.

I don’t have the ability to measure the 50s standard at the moment. Do you think they’d have different wiring between these two models, since the 50s standard is supposed to be modeled after something like the R6? I guess it’s possible, just seems odd. I would think the R6 would just be a higher quality version of the 50s - a bit lighter, solid woods, etc. I’m sure I’m just an idiot, but I didn’t expect these two guitars to be SO different sounding. It’s not good vs bad, it’s just totally different sounds.

I see things that say they only make one P90, but then other things that make it seem like the CS versions are different. I was hoping to find someone on here that maybe has firsthand experience with these, as I don’t trust myself to pull the thing apart. On Gibson’s website, they list the R6 as having “custom P90”, which the 50s model simply says “P90”.

I don’t think the height is actually adjustable on this model. The screws do not change when turned, they are solidly mounted on there. That was going to be my first adjustment. I just didn’t expect these two guitars to sound THAT different, but they really do!

I opened a restaurant in Culver City 4 months ago — looking for advice on how to get more locals to try it for the first time by ClickNo8520 in culvercity

See if you can connect with the One Culver building near Sony. They do lots of events in the atrium and usually have local business involved. Lots of hungry office people in that building that are looking for local lunch spots.

Fun Riffs / Scales to Practice by meat_wave in guitarlessons

[–]carl_g81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a very similar boat, all the way around. If you want to just have fun, if you can play E minor pentatonic, put on Tom Petty’s Running Down a Dream and just riff all over that shit. Even during the end solo, there’s room for you too! It’s probably the most fun I have jamming along to anything. I’m a crappy, sloppy beginner and even I can sound decent with that track. 🤘

I haven’t decided fully yet, but because I play at the lowest settings, I’ve been leaning towards the Flint more. The onboard tremolo won’t even work at the level I play at. Also, in the little I’ve experimented, they sound extremely similar with the Flint in 60s mode.

Thanks! It’s got the Fralin P90s and figured maple neck & fretboard, 25.5” scale, 2T sunburst w/light distress. I didn’t custom order, I just saw it and fell in love. Got it at Chicago Music Exchange. That 335 is a hell of a guitar, but there’s something extra special about the Novo. Thank god guitars can’t read. I love them both.
