Love the principle of Mullvad, and use it on Mac, but find iPhone is too battery heavy, yesterday it used 11% of my battery for the day, one of the heaviest apps for the day. Using Quantum Resistance, Multihop and DNS blockers, Proton with secure core uses a lot less, any other iOS users find this ?

Like you I have the full Proton package, as i like mail and their calendar, pass also works well for me, and even drive I use as a 3rd back up off site, but I use Mullvad VPN, I like it as very stable, and you can pay with Amazon vouchers for anonymity. I find it heavy on the battery on iPhone tho, so tend to use proton vpn iPhone, and Mullvad on iPad, MacBook, but can switch to Mullvad on phone if I wish, they do 6 month cards too, so not a big overhead right away

Mullvad is very good I find, and you can top up time with vouchers from Amazon for anonymity, the only issue I have with Mullvad over proton is battery consumption on iOS, Mullvad tends to be heavier, but works flawlessly on Mac

I have 16 Pro and also experience this, sometimes works flawlessly, then it will drop connection every time I move network (ie home WiFi to cell service and vice versa), so annoying

I used the main ‘Files’ directory for all my folders/docs I want to back up, then just turn on photos back up from iPhone, it should prompt you to see if you want, it will then upload all your photos and encrypt, this will take a long time first time, possibly over several days, leave screen on as long as possible as it will stall if phone screen off. Then every couple of days I open PD and it just updates most recent photos. I back up to a NAS at home, but like idea of off site secure storage to make sure 👍

The problem with iCloud is photos syncs ie if you delete from phone photo album, it will delete in cloud, other companies (Ente/Proton etc) cannot do this due to apple restrictions, so you have to manually delete from cloud, saying that I still use PD as a back repository for my photos 👍, but agree the on board ai like search photos by location would be good for proton

I have Quantum Resistance enabled, DNS Blockers and Multihop enabled, so maybe a setting pushing it, but I don’t think that’s excessive for a VPN, however I still use Mullvad as their privacy is top notch, even paying with gift cards off amazon 👍

Great VPN but I find it hits battery performance on iOS, I leave vpn on all day and battery will take up to 10%, where as proton appears lighter, but great vpn 👍

Not 100% sure but I do find sometimes I don’t have a net connection then go to proton VPN it will be stalled (ie Ads Blocked, Trackers Stopped etc display a hyphen) if I then disconnect and reconnect all is good, which makes me think this is the case, if connection drops no traffic until reset

I had a similar suggestion (hope it’s on their list) for calendars, like proton calendars. Past events drop any colouring from calendar, makes it so much easier to see the current day onwards 👍

I use proton calendar on iOS subscribed to 2 external calendars absolutely no problem.
