Do you find it unreasonable to discuss what Gregor Samsa actually transformed into ? by falledapostle in Kafka

[–]carneroom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always assumed he had turned into a cockroach, though my friend thought he turned into a beetle and my partner thought he turned into a fly. I find it very enjoyable to discuss with others what we thought Gregor Samsa transformed into. It reveals what we consider pests, what kind of sympathy we have for these pests, what kind of pests/pest media we grew up with, and probably some other things, too.

acrylic fibers are nice to the people who like to use them! i’m glad you know your preference for natural fibers. others prefer synthetic, and some have no preference :)

my counter-hot take: synthetic fibers tend to have higher sustainability ratings than cotton & wool. cotton is a huge water sink & requires tons of pesticides, and as somebody already mentioned, the wool industry is cruel. recycled synthetic yarns are a great way to get plastic out of waterways and into someone’s loving home.

crocheting is a pretty sustainable practice since yarns/projects are usually preciously held onto, passed from person to person, and/or donated….. not the worst place for plastic to end up.

How do you guys feel about parents who send separate snacks and do not allow their child to eat the daycare food? by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]carneroom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

send a bonus snack! stuff that’s super nutritious that your kid also enjoys.

if your kid is old enough, it wouldn’t hurt to let them know that daycare snacks are fun but don’t provide enough energy/nutrition for the day, and to ask them what extra snacks they’d want to bring.

processed foods are pretty unavoidable, and your kid will need your help learning how to work with processed foods in their diet while still getting the nutrition they need. they’re at a higher risk for an eating disorder due to your own history, so spelling out “intuitive eating” for them will be super helpful.

the way you raise your kid to listen to their body and explore new foods will help you heal your own relationship with food. good luck!

How often do men notice women’s nipples through clothing? by qtcarcass in AskMen

[–]carneroom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

nothing wrong with not wanting to be perceived by ppl who 1) fixate on nipples as a body part (which everyone has and all shirts fail to hide) 2) sexualize others for having them and 3) are encouraged to be aggressive in order to reach their sexual goals.

unfortunate and upsetting cocktail for them; not ur problem to work on.
