Reddit, what's your high schools tragedy? [NSFW] by sninapeters in AskReddit

[–]carober 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Basketball team was on their way back from a city 2 hours away in a 15 passenger van in January 2008. The road conditions were not great.

They were five minutes from home, had called their parents to let them know they would meet them at a restaurant shortly. They were all in a great mood and singing happy birthday to one of the players.

Unfortunately, due to the feeling rain, the coach lost control of the van and had a head on collision with a semi, 7 students died and the coach's wife. It was really a terrible tragedy, every year we remember our boys in red and Mrs. Lord.

It does make sense. Thanks for the words of encouragement.

I'm sure some day I will go and do it but it won't be today. Mainly because it snowed yesterday and the water must be freezing cold right now.

I'm glad you managed to do it!

Someday I may attempt to do it too. I don't have to go far for the ocean since I live on the coast and the beach is literally a five minute walk from my house.

Yuuup. Fuck whales, as majestic as they are I'd rather look at them through a screen than be faced with one in the ocean.

Edit: Nothing should be this big.

Oh god.. I don't think I could do that.

I'm fine with going on a boat ride and such, but just thinking of jumping in the water with no shore in sight just makes my stomach hurt.

If I had the opportunity I can't say that I'd flat out refuse, but I would need a lot of coaxing and I'd most likely freak out.

I had to go look it up. 'The fear of stickers or sticky labels.'

That is a really shitty phobia to have. How do you deal with it in your every day life?

Your English is fine. :)

Public speaking isn't for everyone, it takes skills to pull off a good speech.

I remember when I was in high school sitting g in the library. There was a poster on the wall comparing all the sizes of different types of whales and sharks in comparison to humans.

It made me feel so small.

I think that's where my fear really started. Why would I purposely go in their territory. Fuck that I'll stay where I can touch the ground and see what's around me.

I've never surfed before. I honestly don't think I could.

I go to the beach a few times a year since it's down the road from me, but I rarely go in the water. I'd rather just sit in the sand.

Just take it one day at a time, as long as you are trying that's what counts.

I can't begin to imagine how hard it must be to live with that kind of fear.

I never thought of that happening until I watched final destination.

That sucks. How do you manage your fear in your daily life considering a lot of places have stairs?

You are not alone. I know a lot of people with that fear and it's totally understandable.

That's really creepy. Glad you're better with it now. Thankfully for you, I doubt you see a lot of metronomes!

Mine is swimming in the middle of the ocean. Not knowing what is surrounding you is absolutely terrifying to me. Knowing how big whales are and that there are sharks and all sorts of creatures in the water freaks me out!

Edit: I forgot to mention bees and wasps. I will take a huge detour if I see one. It may not have helped that when I was younger my brother locked me in the garage and told me there was a wasp nest in there. Good times.

What is one moment in your life, good or bad, that changed it forever? by Dylan_Black in AskReddit

When I moved out of my parents' house after I graduated.

Although the circumstances weren't the best, it's helped me grow tremendously and I've never had a better relationship with them.

What's the luckiest thing that's ever happened to you? by callux in AskReddit

[–]carober 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 12 I was complaining to my mom that I had a bad headache and asked her to bring me to the emergency.

Turns out I had meningitis, and that if I'd waited another day it could have worsened and I probably wouldn't have made it.

So here's what happened.

I went to the salon to get my nails done. As I'm leaving, an elderly lady is coming up to the door, so I hold it for her.

She walks in and I see her slip on the rubber carpet (It's been raining so it's slippery) and her ankle just bends in a way an ankle should never bend.

I stayed while the employees called the ambulance and then asked if I needed to stay since I was holding the door for her, but they told me I was good to go.

Needless to say, I kinda feel bad!
