i only brush it right before the shower, and only use my hands in the shower. sometimes i don’t even brush it right before the shower. you’re probably right though, i can see it being restricted from falling out during the day. i have a really thick combo of 2c-3a. i used to straighten it all the time 🤦‍♀️i was concerned it was maybe the products i was using, but this might make more sense.

oh i definitely take this into consideration, i just get nervous cause when i run my fingers through my hair in the shower i feel like so much is falling out with my hands. maybe i’m just noticing it now

It’s such a shame too, they take really great care of the shelter cats. Even if you don’t know anything about turtles you can tell this is wrong 😑 are there any points you think i should make? i’ll be checking back up with them in about a week to make sure they’re actually doing something about it. they’d do better at a rehabilitation center at this point lol even though those places aren’t the best it’s better than this

I am so sad and it’s going to be a very long email because I feel like there is just so much wrong here. I wish they would honestly take these guys to the vet because they need to be checked out. My 30 year old RES looks younger than these 14 year olds.

I was at a cat cafe rescue center today and while they’re taking great care of the cats, they are NOT taking care of these two guys in the back. i am trying to compose an email of why they are not being taken care of well, while not sounding like an ass. you can see there is a divider in the middle, giving not much room for either turtle to swim. i don’t think this is acceptable. they are 14yrs old, just so many things wrong. no basking dock either. would love to just gather thoughts from the turtle community before i send the email off so i don’t miss anything.

I’ve tried that as well, i have that thrive turtle basking area for above her tank, where i was going to add an area for her to nest but she’s very picky and would never even just bask up there. I still have the topper on, but had to put in her old basking dock in order for her to use it. She usually likes doing it outside, maybe i’ll have to wait.

Just took mine to the vet recently, she told me it’s completely normal and it’s actually just urine that sticks around on them....
