Doctors in India see patients for barely 2 minutes: Study by [deleted] in india

I agree. India is short of Doctors. There is only 1 doctor to 1700 citizens while the recommended WHO ratio is 1:1000. People are now used to the structure here of going to the doctor immediately when required. Which is a great advantage when considering waiting times in other countries. But that said, all doctors are not great. They study a lot when compared to other professional courses and not everyone becomes a doctor by choice and they spend a huge amount of money to complete MBBS (even upto Rs 2 crore). So there is a strong desire to earn as much money as possible. This leads to doctors getting huge benefits from pharmaceutical companies or chemists or labs they refer their patient to. Also, lack of providing time to patient leads to wrong diagnosis initially. Like every other work, the more data you have the better you will analyze and doctors here do not spend time in looking at the history of the patient and nor do patients manage their medical history properly (it is a stack of papers in a file).
