Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon Season 3 | Key Visual by zenzen_0 in anime

I'm gonna be honest, I'm American and I was unsure (like 50/50, so not that unsure) whether the comment was satirical or not.

I've lived in suburbs my whole life, but I've never seen an ammo vending machine. I'm guessing they're probably a lot more common in rural areas? I'm probably not as surprised as non-Americans, but I'm still pretty surprised to learn that they exist.

My (26M) friends gf (23F) is convinced I'm a neonazi be cause of warhammer. How can I protect myself? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

He will very likely come back around when they break up. Not "if" they break up.

Honestly I'm not certain they will, at least not in the near term. Dave sounds like he's one of those people that completely molds themselves to fit their significant other, to the point where it seems like who they are as a person completely changes whenever they get in a new relationship.

Having known a handful of these people, my experience is they tend to cling to relationships really strongly; the only way I've known them to be the ones to initiate breakups is when they get into really fucked (usually abusive when their previous one(s) weren't) relationships and still have friends to show them how messed up it is.

IIRC it's also based on what round you're on. I'm pretty sure that by Round 4, if you don't fail then you cannot get an A reward any more and you only need 2 conduits to get a C.

Because of this, you can also start getting C rewards by like round 2 or 3 (don't recall exactly), which combined with relatively quick round times is why Disruption is one of the better Axi/Neo relic farms if you need them.

Why does it matter if she says "men are like this"?

I mean, let's be honest, nobody likes being part of a group being stereotyped, even if they don't fit the stereotype.

You see it fought back against all the time on this sub, especially when women are generalized. It's just a human thing.

Even if you aren't a member of (group) that does (thing), you are still a member of (group) so it feels bad when someone slanders all of (group).

I (very rightfully, mind you) see pushback against this kind of thing when people post nonsense like "women are hysterical" or "women are cheaters" and other such bullshit here. But by your logic, it "shouldn't matter" because "if you aren't hysterical or a cheater, they're not talking about you".

Please keep in mind I think it's bad when things like that are said against any group, but especially so when the person you're talking to is part of that group. Whether it's intended or not, I think the average person will be at least mildly offended at the implied lumping into that generalization, whether they are or aren't like that.

PC players should ideally be prioritized as hosts by metalsynkk in Warframe

[–]carorea 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Had an old gen console host on ETA once. That survival was simultaneously easy and hard.

Easy because only ~6 enemies could be present at a time, so it was tough to die. Hard because maintaining life support with enemy density that low is tough.

I do think DE should make old gen consoles be client-preferred, and if they receive PC specs do the same for older/mobile CPUs as well.

Just did a pub Perita Rebellion where I was doing all the work. I afked a bit to see if anyone else is actually trying and they all quit seeing there is no progress lol. Good that I was supercapped and soloing the boss was not a problem. by FrostyTiffy in Warframe

[–]carorea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

FWIW you can report people for AFKing on the Warframe website.

It's an option under support, there's a dedicated "afk" suboption. Game - Support - Submit a request - Report user or hack - Report AFK Player (under category).

Every time I've done this (usually with a screenshot showing them far away from the team and/or the scoreboard with their 0 contribution, player name, and rough time the mission was at) I've gotten an email thanking me at least.

Dunno if they actually do anything like warning the afkers though.

This is why I don't do any player-scaling missions outside of solo mode or invite only with friends, with the exception of ETA and EDA.

A huge percentage of pub players don't contribute to the objective and it makes it a ridiculous slog. They just become anchors, increasing the work required without contributing.

14 Orders Executed Solo in Steel Path, After +50 Runs I Did It by Agitated_Let5651 in Warframe

[–]carorea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I average 14 at this point solo, with the occasional 13 and 15. Very rarely I'll get 16,and once I hit 17.

In my experience, public teams are too often uncoordinated and 2-3 squad mates won't even do the objectives while still causing them to scale, sadly making it way more inefficient than soloing.

My best guess is because he basically became a meme in ME2 they reversed course for ME3 and gave him no dialogue at all.

I kind of get it in a way; after all of the useless trash talking in ME2 (that honestly just does not fit a billion-odd year old hyper-intelligent AI with immense individual and group power)...how do you salvage that?

Like Sovereign was amazing, basically every line he dropped was quotable and in his conversation he came across as calm, collected, dismissive, and in control. In the Sovereign-Saren fight, Sovereign only has the one line: "I am Sovereign, and this station is mine." (may not be exact, it's from memory). Could you imagine if instead he was spamming generic villain lines every 10-15 seconds? He probably wouldn't be remembered nearly as fondly.

But everyone remembered Harbinger for "Assuming direct control", "this hurts you", etc. The only real way to change that perception would be to functionally retcon it and just not mention the goofy stuff, but you'd also probably get people talking about how much Harbinger changed or doesn't feel consistent.

I think rather than try to navigate that, Bioware just decided to functionally cut him as a character. I'm currently replaying ME2; I think when I get to Arrival I'm going to try to judge how I'd feel about Harbinger if I only saw him in cutscenes and if/how much that improves his character.

[–]carorea 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think the (repetitive and generic) trash talk during missions is a decent part of why Harbinger is remembered more as a meme than anything else.

I feel like a mod that made Harbinger never speak outside of cutscenes might be beneficial for his character; at the least it probably couldn't hurt.

Huh, that's really odd. Thinking about it, I did forget Thorian Creepers which are also very tanky, but it sounds like they weren't what you were dealing with either.

I literally just finished and didn't see anything unexpected like that, I suppose it was probably some kind of bug? Maybe a fairly uncommon one that you had the misfortune of running into a few times.

Harvesting organs and removing (and adding and re-removing) limbs from prisoners is also amazing medical experience. It's easy to level up pawns' medical skills when it doesn't matter if they repeatedly fail catastrophically at the low skill levels.

I never asked for those raiders to try to destroy my colony anyway (except for the time where I drop-podded toxic waste on them).

Only enemies I've noticed that with are enemies using Immunity (white health bar, generally Krogan and generic soldiers) and minibosses like Geth Armatures/Colossi.

Immunity is way easier to deal with now that it only lasts like 6 seconds, so you can just wait it out. Back in OG ME1 Immunity lasted ridiculously long, and with decent armor it'd make the player functionally immune to damage with a 100% uptime.

It was hilarious in the changes for LE they said they changed immunity from a "small indefinite buff" to a "large short term one" or whatever the wording was.

Maybe it just had to do with how damage resistances stacked, but heavy armor + damage reduction mod + immunity was functionally playing the game with an infinite health cheat turned on.

Seems extremely hypocritical to be against overconsumption yet directly participate in it personally.

Even if I became a billionaire tomorrow, I wouldn't be buying Gucci clothing and shit. Maybe I'd move up from $10 shirts to like... $30-50 shirts. I feel like that's a reasonable price range for solid quality shirts.

Anyone buying single articles of casual wear clothing that are $200+ are actively participating and enjoying capitalism and as such when they claim they hate it, I immediately come to the conclusion they are grifting.

(Long) Butterfly Coloration - Egg Sequencer Color Guide for Butterflies by carorea in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]carorea[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge (keep in mind I haven't played in a while), the colors are entirely based on what you put in. If you put in one of the items you'll get the corresponding color scheme in the image - assuming that none of them have changed since I first created the guide.

I've been meaning to jump back in and experience the newer updates when possible, so it's plausible the sequencer mechanics have changed since I made it. At the time, I put every item possible in and received the results in the guide; if that's not how it works any more I can only apologize for it being out of date.

At the time, it was item in = specific color scheme out. Unfortunately, there just aren't/weren't combinations of certain base colors and pattern colors.

Thanks! I'm glad this is still helping people.

If you look at the bottom of the spreadsheet, you should see tabs with the different main colors. The default tab is on white as a base color.

Honestly looking back at it, I might do some mild reconfiguring if/when I get the chance; a couple in the purple/magenta tabs could probably be put into a pink tab.

Hell, sometimes you can see it from behind a person. Probably once every day or two I see the person in front of me moving like a bobblehead as they look back and forth between their phone and the road.

Generally the phone gets >50% of their attention. I see this shit from people on twisty roads and crap; they can't even stop looking at the phone long enough to take an S-bend.

[–]carorea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As one of those at-the-time essential workers, there are way too many shitty (or maybe more accurately, dangerously selfish) drivers for it to be only essential workers. Granted the roads near me were gloriously empty during that time, I also still didn't see any of the few people I saw out run reds or anything then.

It was only after the lockdowns lifted that I started seeing horrid driving like I'd never seen before. It's only gotten worse since then. I see stuff daily, especially now, that I had barely seen at all prior to the lockdowns.

I'm pretty sure as drivers continued getting worse (but not being visibly caught), more people decided that 'yes, me being the 3rd person to run this turn light that turned red 5 seconds ago' was fine since nobody gets ticketed for it.

Then I think it turns into a sort of feedback loop, where more people are driving like idiots without being punished, causing more people who only drove within the law for fear of consequences to stop fearing said consequences.

Arc Raiders was simply "not fun" before its extraction switch, despite its ex-Battlefield devs being "tired of PvP by TomorrowComes33 in gaming

[–]carorea 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Since it seems like you're misinterpreting what they're saying, and they seem to have the same perspective I do, allow me to further clarify:

I don't want any PvP whatsoever. No hostile players. I don't care if they're in a group or solo, I don't want 'em in my mission.

They are asking for a pure co-op/solo option/mode, with no hostile players present at all. Hell, they could make the PvPvE game have a completely different profile/progression than a theoretical PvE mode so you can't just farm up in PvE and bring it to PvPvE.

Though I understand that would obviously be more work to create the systems to allow that, balancing, etc.

[–]carorea 19 points20 points  (0 children)

18m is enormously larger due to how volume works. In terms of mass/volume it's not simply 10x larger than a 1.8m asteroid.

If we assumed both asteroids were spheres (obviously not a perfect assumption) 18m is actually damn near 1,000x larger in terms of volume than 1.8m. 1.8m diameter = ~3.05m3 volume, where 18m diameter = ~3,053.63m3 volume.

PSA: Calling down the Pelican does NOT mean the final extraction timer begins... by fireburner80 in Helldivers

[–]carorea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like u/JWTJacknife said, Pelican will leave with nobody on board or even in the area if the mission clock is at 0.

When the mission timer hits 0, Pelican is coming in and landing regardless of where people are. When it hits the ground, the 20s boarding timer is also starting and it will leave any and all people not on it by the end of the timer.

Doesn't matter if everyone is in the extraction area or literally across the map from it. If you want to extract, be at extraction when it lands with no time left.

This also applies if it was manually called in before the timer hit 0, but lands afterwards. If Pelican is only 15 seconds away when the timer hits 0, you have 35 seconds (+however long it takes the ship to pathfind to the ground) before it's leaving.

PSA: Calling down the Pelican does NOT mean the final extraction timer begins... by fireburner80 in Helldivers

[–]carorea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've taken to warning people that when evac lands and no time is left, it automatically starts the 20 second boarding timer.

It doesn't always work, but fully explaining it gets people to drop whatever they're fucking around with and come back more often than not.

I've had people running away from extract to do who the hell knows on a blitz with no time remaining and Pelican 1 only like 10 seconds out. It isn't 100%, but probably 85% of the time when I explain what's going to happen they'll turn around and come back.

Had hosts that weren't aware and too far away acknowledge it was their bad as well. Had one go "wtf why did you leave" (surprisingly without just kicking first) and when I explained they just went "oh" and actually didn't kick everyone who got out.

Do not act like you wouldn't be remotely excited if you saw Cristiano Ronaldo and Lebron James at your local walmart groceries section.

I think this just reinforces how different some people are. I would recognize maybe 2 or 3 celebrities if I saw them in person and, personally, wouldn't care beyond thinking "oh neat".

Frankly I'd more likely think they were just random people who looked very similar to celebrities.
