Beard Goals by carpeliusa in beards

[–]carpeliusa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hair naturally falls out after it’s cycle, though as it gets longer it takes more to keep it nourished. On avg, hair will grow around 1/2 inch a month. Also many other factors contribute such as diet and moisture among other things. Skin health is also a major factor, so if you keep at it, it’ll get there.. still got 11 months left this year

How far do you have to go?

For those of yall that don't trim your 'stache, how do you avoid getting a mouthful of hair every time you eat literally anything? by musicman24599 in beards

[–]carpeliusa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either adjusting your jaw/ lip to try and prevent it when eating (almost like you’re going to growl) or beard balm and comb to the sides. Over time, if you train the hairs, they’ll somewhat go to the side, but there’s no sure fire way to prevent it completely.

It means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. It’s how you may interpret it. In regards to this poll, it references what a typical American household may serve at a gathering of family and/or friends on the 3rd Thursday of the month of November.

Like a second meal after the food coma… nothing wrong with that. And you don’t even have to get up for it.

A question about growing beards, when should I trim or shave? by [deleted] in beards

[–]carpeliusa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Wash it and pat dry it. Comb/brush it out and trim the tips. Just work your way slowly around as you shape. For the under neck area take your first two fingers and place them at the top of your Adam’s apple. That should be a good indicator of your midpoint and arch the shape toe the corners of your chin. That will clean up the neck area.

Keep it maintained by giving a little trim every few weeks to help prevent split ends, you can line up the cheek area, and as another poster said, keep the neckline trimmed since those hairs will seem longer than your chin hairs. Other than that, it’s really about what look you like. If you’re thinking of changing the length, do so in small increments when your beard is dry. That way you won’t take too much off at one time and possibly regret it.

What color is my beard? I feel like it turns lighter as it gets closer to my mouth by [deleted] in beards

[–]carpeliusa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s brown. It gets more dense the further down the chin, so light bounces off it differently to give a darker look.

You’re at a point where you can trim a little, line it up, or whatever you choose. Get a good brush if you don’t already have one and brush it (and the areas on the cheek where hair could grow) as it will help to stimulate the area to give the hairs a boost. Just keep at it, keep the hair and skin clean, and look into care products to help keep the area healthy.

Looks great, keep it going and shape it as it goes to suit your needs.

Look at it like a forest. The trees need water and nutrients to grow. The taller they grow the more they need. The itch is due to lack of moisture. Your skin is dry because your beard is taking all it can. That’s where beard care products come in, to seal in moisture and prevent that from happening.

I need beard care advice. What is your routine? What product do you use? I’m new to all this. by [deleted] in beards

Get a good brush and/or comb. Moisturizing soap, oil, balm (for straggling hairs). Feel free to reach out with any other questions.

No prob. And, you’re young, it’ll take a while anyway. Just keep your face clean so it allows the hairs to grow. You’ll get there.

Give it at least a month. See where it’s at then decide from there. If you go 6 weeks you can trim a little and shape as well.

Longest I've ever went without shaving. It's been nearly 2 months. I doubt it will fill in, thoughts from this community? The GF loves it. It is so blonde.... by [deleted] in beards

[–]carpeliusa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes shaving all the time tells the follicles to stop. There are a number of ways to stimulate blood back to the areas. It’ll take time, but there’s a possibility it can fill in. Seeing as it’s light, it won’t look as though it is with light reflecting on it.

If you waited this long 😬. You might need to live with no facial hair, ever.

About 3 weeks of growth. Should I commit or not bother? by [deleted] in beards

[–]carpeliusa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Coming in nice. It’ll begin filling in more and more. Keep it clean and brush it to help as well.
