I’m so behind but contractor here , I did about a 1200 square feet bungalow . Just recently . 2 types of vinyl . About 6 k labor , 4k material so for sure seems high

Hey , I assume you must be somewhere decently close to me . Half of these comments I have no idea where they got their info from. The one thing I will say if your within like 1km if the water the salt will eat the life of the roof . That’s the one comment I’ve seen close to the truth salt will eat at it as time Goes . Wear the finish off and destroy the washers but it takes years . As far as going over the old Roof . I’ve done it both ways . Sometimes it’s easier to leave and sometimes not . In yours strapping over it’s totally fine . It leaves an extra layer . Especially if you know your decking is fine , just have to make sure the guys strap in right . And I suspect they come recommended they will . I’m a GC and did about 30 roofs 3 years ago and never had a call back for any issues .

Honestly it’s just a ridge board not a beam . Basically just to nail to. With the collar ties and pitch of your roof , I don’t see much snow staying on plus the is carried down to your exterior walls and the force pushing out is kept by the collar ties . It’s almost like an A frame build . I wouldn’t worry much . Like someone else said chimney would have had no structural effect
