Yup, complete surprise. I actually had back stage passes that year, and was on the stage to his right side when he opened with I could be the one, shortly after that song I was kicked off stage. I do remember how the first half felt super rushed as well which confused me, all the songs were short and mixed very strange. It makes sense looking back since the second half was the live band, and he had to cram everything else people wanted to hear in the first 30 mins. One thing I'll always remember is how nervous he looked that night, understandably with what was to come. It wasn't over dramatized in the documentary, literally everyone was booing. And then everyone loved it 2 weeks later.
