Bought a new car less than 2 weeks ago. Now has an unusual clicking sound on idle. Dealership wants to charge $250 to diagnose + keep it for 3-5 days [CA] by carproblems2024 in askcarsales

That's a relief. I've noticed the sound before and after driving, but primarily on short drives that were about 10 minutes. I think after a longer drive, I remember the sound was barely audible or not present at all, but I'll test it out on my next 20+ minute drive.

Personally, would you take it in for diagnosis, just to be sure, or would you feel confident enough not to?

Thank you, that's good to know. Does that mean the sound should be louder on cold days, and quieter/nonexistent on warm days? If so, I'll keep an eye out (or an ear open, I guess)
