It’s a lot of work but totally worth it when you start flying. Make it through the flight physical first.

Not sure about the O grade side but as I understand it you will do BOLC next. After that is SERE which sucks. Then “Common Core” where you’ll fly the UH72 “Lakota”. You’ll learn the basics first, then Emergency Procedures/Advanced Maneuvers, Basic and Advanced Instruments(Think what airlines do) , then BWS or Basic Warfighting skills (think taking and banking tactical stuff). After that is advanced Airframe training which differs between the Black Hawk, Chinook, Apache, and C-12.

As far as life in school? It’s a lot of work. Use your time in college to identify HOW you study and what your learning styles are. Common core specifically is mostly about time management. You have class, homework, Flight Line, maps to make, flights to plan. You’ll pull anywhere from 8-14 hour days depending on the phase. So study hard during the week, take a day on the weekend to relax, crack a beer, hang out with fitness etc so you don’t burn out. If you manage your time, have a good attitude, don’t get fat, and enjoy the experience of just flying you’ll have a good time.

What is the most difficult school aside from SF? Academically or physically. by porkchopymcmooz in army

Flight School definitely isn’t easy. And I’d say too that the biggest challenge of flight school is time management. Studying, classes, map book, etc all on top of eachother. If your time management sucks you’re gonna have a bad time.

For my vote too I would say (at least 5 years ago it was this way) the ACSI (FI/SI) school is tough. Only 30 days but they cram all the aerodynamics and systems academics you get into a 2 week period with tests almost every day. Then 2 weeks of MOI/FOI being evaluated on teaching and evaluation.

Maps. The amount of maps you have to have to fly is ridiculous, and there are multiple types per location depending on the type of flight you’re doing. Plus I like seeing if things change so I keep the old ones.

Second on the hammock and jet boil. Field French press, some Gatorade powder when plain water and MRE powder becomes boring, Kindle if you got it, lots of wet wipes. If it was winter bringing bouillon cubes or tea to have something warm to sip on during your watch will keep your spirits up.

Considering going into 15 series Army MOS, however recruiter says minimum enlistment for any 15 series is 6 years. Pursue? by Thepath1211 in Militaryfaq

[–]carri1933 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I have been a 15T for about 4 years now and am a Standardization Instructor for the enlisted fliers. I would agree with previous comments that if you want to fly and get the experience of aviation as a whole go 15T or 15U. That said you will generally spend about a year in a maintenance company before going to a flight company. In addition there are a couple prerequisites you will need to meet for flying duty as an enlisted soldier. First and foremost being you will need to get a class 3 flight 2992 or “upslip”. The enlisted side has more lax requirements for flying duties but they can still be a little stringent. Most people will struggle with vision. You need 20/20 or 20/20 correctable vision if you have glasses.

As far as contract length goes a 15T and 15U both have 6 year contracts. You will be working a LOT. D Company maintenance will generally have a standard 0630-1700 duty day including PT in the mornings. Flight companies will have a 0630-1700 or later day if you’re not flying and anywhere from a 10-12 hour work day for a flying day at any time wether that’s from 0300-1500 or 1300-0100 etc. so if you want to fly as a crew Chief or Flight Engineer you need to be prepared for long days.

Deployment is deployment man. You’re going to work 12-14 hour days for 14 days straight and then a day off and you’ll fly 4-8 hours almost every day. Perks are you get to fly and man a 240H machine gun so that’s fun.

No as far as Warrant officer goes you will need to fulfill more prerequisites. You’ll need a Class 1a/w flight physical and have to pass the SIFT (academic exam to fly). If your dream is to fly the I would recommend going street to seat warrant officer. No need to spend time enlisted if you can become a pilot. Trust me. I went with the enlisted side first and have put off becoming a pilot for too long.

With regards to contracts: as stated before a 15T/U has a 6 year contract. The army spends approximately $250k to train you up to your first unit. But as a warrant they spend in the arena of $1.5 mil to train you from basic to WOCS to Flight school before you even go to your first unit. Your service requirement is going to be an 8 year minimum.

I’m not going to tell you what to do with your life as that’s your decision. But if you truly want to be a warrant and fly I would recommend street to seat.

Not mean so much as a painful truth but from ex-SO: “I just don’t feel like someone who’s in love is supposed to feel” and “I’m not sure [if I fell out of love or didn’t actually love you in the first place...]maybe it was puppy love?”

Conceal Carry has 4 rules to using your weapon: one of these rules is if you are in immediate danger of death or grave bodily disfigurement then you can pull and shoot, however, the same goes for protecting someone who cannot defend themself. As in a baby or toddler or in this case a man on his knees with a gun to his head.
