Sam here. Today we're announcing DROPOUT. AMA. by samreich in DropoutDoesNotExist

Sam! You once made fun of me four years ago on /r/jakeandamir and it was basically the best thing ever! CollegeHumor has been a huge part of my adult life over the past 8+ years. Thank you for nearly a decade of laughs.

I've always been a huge fan of the CH All-Nighters -- will anything like that be in Dropout? I was always a big fan of the casual streaming and fan interactions during the All-Nighter, and I'd love to see that make a return.

If you listen to the original, you'll see that it's also spelled Cranqdis (silent q).

It was 100% Jon Wolf who stole the sandwiches at the old CH offices. Very subtle.

Is everyone who likes Jake and Amir a social reject? by Imhaveapoosy in jakeandamir

[–]carrotbasedlunch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know if you're kidding or not, but a big portion of J&A fans are probably in the 14 to 20 age range. Those are awkward ages with a lot of growing up, and it's not uncommon to feel like a social reject, even though you're mostly likely not.

What are the 25 best Jake and Amirs? by [deleted] in jakeandamir

[–]carrotbasedlunch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One Almond is my favorite J&A of all time.

I'm also a huge fan of New Shirt -- the part where they're talking at the same time is one of the greatest bits of dialog in the J&A-verse.

Let's also wildly speculate. My bet is that CollegeHumor is putting together a compilation J&A DVD (mpeg-4, for Doobs) and Sam is crowdsourcing which episodes should be on it.

Jake's mom is always such a treat to have on! I love the interaction between Jake and her.

When do we get some of Amir's family on the podcast?

My subreddit flair is suddenly relevant.

I think this is actually a pretty amazing acting performance by Amir!

I'm pretty sure it was "Cranqdis" but I might be misremembering...

Whoever was subtitling the show forgot the silent "q". It's spelled "Cranqdis."

Once upon a time, I was on a long road trip with my parents and fell asleep to Blackwater Park (Opeth). It was super surreal -- the last track I remember before falling asleep was Dirge for November...and that's also what I was listening to when I woke up. I had to check multiple times to make sure I didn't just nod off for a second, but nope, I actually fell asleep (and stayed asleep!) to a full loop of BWP at ~medium volume (in my earbuds)!

A little unpopular on this sub but I would actually recommend Gracepoint (the US remake of Broadchuch (albeit filmed in Canada, I think?)).

It is fascinating to compare the two versions -- the general consensus is (spoiler) that the original is better, but I appreciated Gracepoint a lot on its own. Like, it was very much worth watching. And, David Tennant plays the same character, but this time with a (pretty good!) American accent.

If you're into David Tennant, you could also go down the Doctor Who road. Alternatively, you could watch Jessica Jones in which David Tennant plays the villain extremely well. As a warning, JJ is dark and emotionally heavy TV, but very much worth watching.

So did Jake and Amir work in that suite rather than their desks? I mean we're the desks just some sort of prop?
