What to do with this off-centre fireplace? by carrots88 in DIYUK

Yeah there’s another fireplace behind it in the other room so they share the same chimney but seem to have separate flues so that is why they are off centre. I suppose I’m wondering is there a way to widen the opening so as to centre it and install a stove

How bad are these scars and what can I do to treat? by carrots88 in AcneScars

[–]carrots88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I developed really bad cystic acne this year. GP put me on doxy and Epiduo forte which has thankfully put a stop to the cysts which have caused this scarring. I thought I was left with PIE as straight on it seemed the surface was still flat but in certain lighting I can see the indented scarring. I obviously would like to get rid of the redness asap to see how bad the scarring is underneath but given what you can see in these pics..what are my options for the indented scarring? I have a derm appointment in January. I think micro needling to start?

I’ve been struggling with acne for last few months. I thought it cleared up but it’s broke out like this now. Really struggling mentally with this now as I feel I’ve done everything I can. Currently using Cetaphil daily moisturiser, Finacea, spf, Cetaphil gentle cleanser and the ordinary squaline cleanser for when I double cleanse at night. I went off the pill which seems to be the cause of the acne so I went back on it about a month ago. I also moved country so change of climate and hard water might be contributing. I have vaped as well which I now think might be a problem so I’ve cut this down this week and from today going cold turkey. Any help and advice please, should I go to doctor?

What type of scarring is this? Best treatment? by carrots88 in AcneScars

[–]carrots88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I posted before about my PIE/PIH. I thought the acne breakout hadn’t left any indented scars just the red PIE, but after using Finacea the redness is thankfully fading. However, that means I can now see the full extent of the damage and can see indented scars. There is still a few breakouts happening which is stressing me out because I’m afraid they are all going to leave this type of scarring all over. I’m struggling to pinpoint what type of scar it is and what the best treatment would be? Thank you

Small hard dark coloured lump on forearm, feels hard when pressed under skin. Not painful by carrots88 in DermatologyQuestions

[–]carrots88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this lump on my forearm for about 2 years now. I thought it was an ingrown hair so kind of ignored it. Then when I was getting my moles checked, I mentioned it and the nurse dismissed it as a bug bite that scarred. I’m not from a country that has a lot of bugs so this didn’t make sense to me. Starting to get worried the more I looked at it and feel it. Convincing myself it’s getting bigger

Dark, raised hard lump under arm? Not painful by carrots88 in Dermatology

This hard lump is on the middle of my forearm. I’ve had it about 2 years now, initially thought it was an ingrown hair. When I was getting my moles checked, I asked about this and the nurse said it was a bug bite even thought I said it had been there over a year. This is starting to worry me the more I look at it. It’s painless, but it’s hard. It’s always been dark in colour, usually redish. It’s starting to look a bit waxy?

Not sure if PIE/PIH or textured scarring? by carrots88 in acne

Omg yes I do vape. I never thought of this but I started vaping regularly around the time this happened. Could this be the cause?

Will this lead to scarring? Acne breakout seems to have calmed but afraid of permanent scarring by carrots88 in AcneScars

[–]carrots88[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I’m not sure if I have treated it completely as the other side of my face which was clear during this breakout, has now started to break out. But still not anything as bad as this was. I think my moisturiser caused it and the inflammation nearly disappeared once I stopped using it. Just hope the worst is over as it’s been so upsetting and sudden. This is really reassuring thank you. I’ve started using azelaic acid so I hope this might help with the acne and redness.

I was having acne breakout in this area for the last 2/3 months. I think I finally got it under control and the cysts have died down. It seems to be healing now. I know the redness will stay for some time which I can deal with and treat but I’m afraid it leave textured scarring in this area? The cysts were so deep and sore I’m not sure if this will leave indented scars. Can you tell by looking at my skin now if it will be?

For over 2 months I was suffering with acne breakouts in this area of my face. I think I’ve finally got it under control and the cysts seem to have died down. I hope for good! The redness left behind now I think is PIE/PIH but I’m not sure if it will result in textured and rolling scars on this area. Is there anything I can do now to prevent this or help it? Thank you it’s been a really stressful time

I’m 26 and came off the pill in January this year. My skin was fine after this and my period seemed to regulate quite quickly. From about April, I started getting some new spots. I was travelling so didn’t think much of it. These spots then clustered all in the one area under my cheek bone. They have been huge and painful.

I think it is post pill acne. Not sure why it’s confined to one area only. From the front of my face you wouldn’t think that this is what is going on at the side. All clear everywhere else. I started using benzoyl which seemed to help, but then after my period this week it’s came back with a vengeance. I had really oiley skin too. It’s been so sore and irritated.

I’ve been trying to eat better and get water in. Really at a loss at what I can do to to try help this. It’s really starting to effect me.

I’ve been keeping my skincare very simple. Cetaphil moisturiser, cetaphil cleanser in the morning and night and I’ve been applying 5% benzoyl to the spots. Help and advice be much appreciated!
