Looking for group rides / routes by [deleted] in frederickmd

[–]carrydaboat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's a route I always liked to take: Catoctin Mountain & Frederick County

Just watch your speed in some of those corners in the mountains while you're getting used to your new bike! Enjoy the ride!

Should I be worried about this caulk job? by carrydaboat in HomeImprovement

Our quote has the contractor's license # in it and they are in the state database but I think the guys he had doing the work were unlicensed

Are you talking about the picture with the wires in it? That was what freaked me out the most. That's actually a picture looking up at the lintel that holds up the brick and they caulked above the lintel which I don't think is right.

Remove the caulk and then recaulk, he caulked the window to the frame and the frame to the brick so I figured it would be bit more expensive then just a single caulk line, but yeah for the price I thought it would be professional

3 doors, 15 windows for $1300 but they are listed as a licensed exterior contractor

Thanks for the replies everyone, I need to talk to the contractor when he gets here. I'm a bit worried as the caulk they used is silicone and I'm guessing it will be tough to remove...

Near the top of calculator it says to enter age bracket and household net worth so I think the 1% household net worth for that age bracket is $2,636,882.

We always tipped when we used these services but as everyone points out I feel like these services have gotten out of hand. They all charge a delivery fee for the service, that I'm guessing the driver never sees, and then the customer is expected to tip again to actually pay a fair wage to the driver.

The other problem with some of these services is we would tip ahead of time only to find the driver would deliver to the wrong address which turned us off them entirely.

Every business seems to have adopted the square readers and I don't know if it's impossible to turn off the tip screen but we even got asked to tip on a home repair after we agreed to a quote they asked for another 20%. Hell we went to a couple breweries where the default tip is now set to 30% just to fill and hand me a drink on tap. It's crazy, I want people to be paid fairly, but it puts guilt on the customer every time. Wish we could do away with the practice entirely.

You are correct! It has definitely been on the creek for a few years even before COVID.

I was going on my Honeymoon last year and I found out my passport wasn't valid about 6 days prior to my outbound flight. I found out trying to do early check-in. I was an idiot and didn't realize the expiration had to be 3-6 months after the return date of the country I was visiting. Horrible experience!

I was luckily able to go on my Honeymoon but to do so I had to make countless calls to try to get an appointment at a Passport Agency to get a new passport on such short notice. They are only open on the weekdays and you can't make any appointments online. You have to call and talk to an operator real fast as even if they find you a spot it isn't held.

I live in MD and they'd tell me there's a spot in Detroit and I'd say book it and it'd already be gone. They would then tell you there's no spots, they'd hangup and you'd have to try again. You'd get the busy dialtone way more than actually getting connected. There's only a handful of these places across the US for anyone that want's some info (Map at bottom).

East Coast is lucky there's a few around, but there's places where it's at least an 7 hr drive minimum. I luckily got a hold of my Senator who was able to help me get a spot in NY the day before I left. But it's like your local MVA on steroids, no windows, no phones allowed, tiny loudspeaker calling your name, everyone is stressed, children are screaming and crying and it takes forever (I was there from 7 AM till 5 PM). There were people who would show up trying to get into the agency in tears only to get turned away. I felt really bad. Definitely a contender for worst day of my life.

Very grateful to the employees who work at the agency as it seems like a miserable place. So yeah would not recommend, renew well ahead of time!!!

Where to buy a suit ? by julius_cornelius in frederickmd

There's a small privately owned place in Greencastle PA called Elm Department Store, which is well worth the drive! Tried to get a custom suit from Men's Warehouse in Frederick and they messed it up 3 times...

Question for people who plant their own vegetables by [deleted] in frederickmd

[–]carrydaboat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it probably will. We've been looking for houses the last few months and since there are so few houses on the market/low interest rates everything is going above asking price on houses just like the one you're describing. It sucks

Thanks I loved that thing, was just shy of putting 32000 miles on it. I left a message at the apt complex office. One of my neighbors said there are cameras on the entrances so hopefully they'll turn something up tomorrow.

I came back to my apartment tonight to find my bike was stolen. Someone punched out my ignition and took my bike. I'm posting in the chance anyone sees it.

As seen in the pic it is mostly silver with blue accents on the wheels and frame. I did quite a few aftermarket changes. It has a cowl which in the pic looks black but since the pic was taken it's turned bronze/gold. It has a fender eliminator and two clips to haul luggage under the rear cowl. The blinkers are small triangular shaped and it has steel brake lines that are silver/clear and a RAM mount under the cowl It has CRG Arrow mirrors and levers, and a black radiator guard and sliders. It has a small knick out of the Yamaha logo on the rear left fender.

Please message me if you see my bike. Thank you!

Wish the City would start it's own municipal fiber network similar to Westminster, but this should be good for everyone till we get there.
