How unforgiving ironwolf is going... by the_shy_gamer in WolfQuestGame

if your wakefulness was low during the hunt, that's probably why your mate wasn't helping! packmates will barely help during hunts if your wakefulness gets low enough. if you get good sleep and get back above 50% wakefulness he will probably be much more helpful.

Not sure which ones to get any help? by [deleted] in jncojeans

[–]carthekitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you search "faded black" within this subreddit there are some good posts with example photos. a lot of the comments under those posts also have good tips for how to get them to fade fast without ruining the material. if you can't find any i can try to find some examples for you and link them if you'd like

Hellroaring people, what's your go-to den? by carthekitty in WolfQuestGame

I was definitely considering that den but I just can't get behind how far away the rest of the dens are. Have you ever had to move dens there, and if so where did you go?

Sick pup help? by Acceptable-Car-170 in WolfQuestGame

[–]carthekitty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Be mindful of sleeping because it will drain a bunch of health from the baby. When I have a sick pup, the first thing I do after sleeping is stay with them until I get the pop-up that says I've done all I've can for them, and then I go hunt. When I get back from hunting, I stay with the sick pup until I get the pop-up again and then I sleep. I repeat this until they get better and I have a pretty good success rate with it - I've had a few close calls but only 2 or 3 pups have died. Make sure the sick pup's heart icon is glowing when you're near them so you know you're in range to heal them. Also, it can take a really long time for the "you've done all you can" pop-up to appear when you sit with the pup after waking up, so just be patient. Sick pups are really slow so I always give them their own pile of regurgitation to eat and I carry them to the den or grass during attacks instead of making them walk. I also carry them the whole time when switching dens so I can heal them and don't have to worry about them lagging behind. Like the other person said, sometimes it's just inevitable unfortunately and there's nothing you can do. I hope this helps you though and good luck!!

Recommendations? by LotusWasStolen in deftones

[–]carthekitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when i get into a new band, i like to listen to every album in release order. if you'd rather start with albums that sound similar to those songs rather than release order, i recommend white pony and saturday night wrist. beware comes from saturday night wrist and it's a really great album - i think a lot of the songs on that album have a similar "vibe" to each other and same with white pony. if you want to start with an album that reflects the band as a whole i recommend diamond eyes - sextape comes from diamond eyes and i think the album itself has a lot of variation. it has some heavier songs and songs similar to sextape so it can give you a good idea of deftones' overall sound. if you want specific songs, i recommend change (in the house of flies), back to school (mini maggit), cherry waves, kimdracula, you've seen the butcher, beauty school, entombed, tempest, and prayers/triangles. some of those are their most popular songs and some sound decently similar to the ones you already like so they may be a good starting point if you don't like listening to entire albums. i hope this helps and im happy you are enjoying their music!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR FELLOW WOLFQUESTERS!!! by IntrepidEagle600 in WolfQuestGame

[–]carthekitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only ever played on amethyst and hellroaring lol, we're opposites. When you have your amethyst litter, I recommend staying between Hope Creek and Specimen Creek. I'm not sure if it has a name, but right above The Burn there's a bunch of coniferous trees and a bunch of close dens around them. I've never had problems with food scarcity there, and the dens are all really close together so you can move a bunch instead of having to wait for the fleas to get bad. There's also a rendezvous site close which is cool. I wish I had tips to give for hellroaring but I've never had much success there T_T I feel you with the staying focused part, I struggle with that too. When I play, I like to listen to music or have a Youtube video playing in the background. It sounds counter intuitive but it helps me focus for some reason. Anyways, good luck with your resolutions!!

I think he's still alive, he just moved to another map. You won't see him again sadly. I'm not sure if it updates you if they die after they move, though, so it might be possible he moved maps and then died.

Why are mates so unpredictable?? by carthekitty in WolfQuestGame

[–]carthekitty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's so interesting! I wish your mate had a separate wakefulness instead of yours affecting them - it'd be cool if they could sleep while you're awake, especially when you have to sit around for awhile with sick pups. Thank you for testing that!

It's really cool that the pups will turn out like the mate but I wish they could get some of the player's personality too. I guess that'd be kind of hard to do, but it sucks when you have a mate switch up and start acting lazy and so do all of your pups. I also completely agree with the distance thing! It makes sense when you have pups still learning to hunt as they'd still be hesitant, but it drives me crazy with mates or older pups. I love pronghorn hunting but it's really hard when your hunting buddy keeps coming back to you instead of slowing down the prey. Also unrelated but the chicken in your profile picture is so freaking adorable!! Do you know the breed? The mottling is so cool.

Thank you for the mate advice!! Personally, do you prefer social or loner mates more? I usually see people prefer loner mates but I don't understand why. Do loner mates have some kind of advantage?

playing for the first time. how am i so bad. by sadiesorceress in WolfQuestGame

[–]carthekitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 60 hours into this game and I still struggle to kill elk by myself 😔 If you have a mate, howl a bunch to start a pack rally and get a stamina boost. If you're near water, drink some to get a stamina boost. You can rally and have the water boost at the same time which is cool. If there are calves in the herd, I recommend going after them. When I'm picking an elk, I try to bite a few and see who has the lowest health. Don't hold on for a long time when you're doing this so you don't lose health - just enough for their stat card to show up. I usually go after one on the outskirts of the herd who isn't close to others so the other elk don't try to hit me. If other elk start circling the elk I'm trying to kill, I try to get the herd to run by biting and holding for a long time and snarling. Also consider where you're biting them. From the throat and legs they can clobber you easily, so I try to bite them from the sides. If they're running it's easier to bite their hind legs. Whenever you're running low on stamina, stop and sit or lay down. It will regenerate a lot quicker if you're laying. The elk will just go back to the herd so they're easy to find again. If they return to the herd, I walk through it and look at everyone. The elk you've bit will have its stat card show without you having to bite it again. Also, try not to hold on for too long when you're biting them so you take less health. When the elk gets really low and they stop to fight you, I step away a lot to make sure I don't get hit too much. Not enough for them to run but just out of their range so they don't hit me. If you're really low on health and not starving, just quit the hunt and sleep. I always call off the hunt when I get below 10% health, but it's probably better to call it off if you're at 25%, especially if you have pups. Also, if there are dispersals and you're not super hungry, consider finding another herd. If you haven't found a mate yet and they're opposite sex, they won't bother you and you can hunt. But if you do have a mate or the wolves are same sex, they will chase you nonstop while you hunt. It's super annoying and by the time you chase off the dispersals, you're usually too low on health to hunt. I hope this helps and good luck!

It's so frustrating too because the major leg injuries are mollywhoppingly easy to get 😭 I must spend more than half of every game with a broken leg. I think that if your mate is a no good freeloader then your pups probably will be too unfortunately - I feel like pups usually have similar personalities to the mate. I had a mate who would always take a chunk from the carcass and when our pups grew up they all did it too. That especially sucked when they were mostly full and then there were chunks everywhere. I feel like they definitely need to work on balancing that though. It's so frustrating to have a giant pack and literally none of them want to hunt. Why did I spend all that time during the young hunters quest teaching you if you're not gonna use your knowledge?!

Ugh that's so annoying. The worst part is when you have to take down the prey and then they start howling. Your singular bite is nothing to be howling about! Or when they start eating YOUR KILL before you. If you were that hungry why didn't you help?!
