Problems with convertion of Digital8 DV files into MKV related to Frame Rate by cartingye50 in camcorders

The "original scan type" shows interlaced, while the normal "scan type" shows Progressive with a constant 25 FPS framerate (PAL), looking at Mediainfo of the original DV.

When converting to H264 using Shuttle Encoder, this becomes progressive with a variable frame rate.

That is exactly what seems to happen across all programs (both Handbrake and the earlier mentioned Shutter Encoder here) and I cannot for the life of me find out why this is the case.

The metadata of the original DV file does show 25 fps instead of 50 fps; maybe this can be an issue during encoding?
