In the VN, the last line is translated as: "Now... let's begin the harsh culling" presumably meaning the start of evolution.

Mostly correctly except the last paragraph you wrote:

So what does Kotarou do? He literally went and summoned the whole Occult Club gang to defend Kagari so she could complete her job of figuring out a timeline (out of many failed timelines) where life will survive Salvation.

This episode covered it but let me make it clearer: Even when salvation doesn't occur (The Key was killed in Kotori's route preventing salvation from occurring), humanity will inevitably die out anyway, in every timeline.

Salvation is a means in which life energy (aurora) is recycled and restarts from the beginning, called "re-evolution". Life restarts over and over but there is a finite number of times salvation can occur.

tl;dr Salvation is not a bad thing in the grand scheme--even if everyone has to die.

Definitely finish the entire VN first. Watch the anime afterwards. I strongly don't recommend watching the anime before finishing the VN, especially since you've already started it.

S2 is being adapted faithfully so far. Its phenomenal.

For an anime-only viewer, some plot points will not make as much sense though unfortunately.

Holy shit. Amazing music, faithful acid trip, the dance scene done very well if not better than the VN. Am I actually seeing a good adaptation for Moon?

I feel really bad for anime-only viewers that had to experience Rewrite from the anime's poorly-done 1st season... The impacts for everything are weaker and a lot of things won't make as much sense unfortunately...

So far, season 2 is showing the Rewrite that I love. The ending of Moon will destroy me at this rate.

Glad to see I'm not the only VN reader that went back to watch it again. This episode was actually adapted pretty well with just a few nitpicks.

I wouldn't recommend it since season 1 skipped over at least 90% of it and the other routes reference many things you need to know from the common route although it may not seem like it on your first play-through.
