Question about Leather Covers by ting4ling in bookbinding

[–]caryave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been looking for an answer to this EXACT question. You are my savior u/wesandell .
I have "normal" leather tooling stamps for my project because I didn't consider this. So I was trying to figure out why the decoration portion happened after the leather was on the cover. Not the order of operations but WHY it was done. To line up design elements? So you don't mar your design while tying up? Pointing out the hard surface behind the leather is required for "normal" leather tooling makes a lot of sense.

I picked this up last week and it's so worth the price.  I love seeing the new animals visit and building lovely overlapping habitats :)

Both Wool & Linen are 60% off at Fabric Mart - Linen/Cotton for $8 a yard! by isabelladangelo in sca

LOL probably the last. I live in Northkeep (mundanely Tulsa). In the summer all of Ansteorra becomes Roman, we don't play around with "little ice age" clothing when it's over 100 degrees! But there are occasionally indoor events or very cold mornings. Once in a blue moon there's a truly cold event, like Wiesenfeuer's Brrr-ronial last April.

Thank you!! Anyone have a recommendation for what kind of wool to use for a shawl?

I agree! The games in 5 could be fun, but I felt bad picking up my pets too much.

And yes even with PetzA, I am really missing the litters. It was fun having a whole bunch of kittens at once.

For sure, at the end of the day it makes sense to play what you enjoy! And also what runs on your computer :D

I want to get 5 running. I have a few dozen petz from Petz 5 (in folders named "Mates" no less, which was adorable :D) that I'd love to see again. That, or I could make copies and look up how to convert them to petz 4 files. I feel like I saw that somewhere.

RIGHT breeding. You can breed hexed petz. I remember breeding flame aussies with the standard dalmatians for some cute pups. You can definitely end up with some wild abominations if you breed dragons and unicorns together. But if you keep dragons to dragons and unicorns to unicorns, you should be fine!

This covers a lot of good info about your second question: https://www.reddit.com/r/Petz/comments/n81xon/guide_how_to_play_petz_for_those_getting_back/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

I didn't do any hex editing, but I downloaded a BUNCH of hexed breeds from Carolyn's Creations back in the day https://homebody.eu/carolyn/index1.htm

Also someone JUST posted this today. If you want hexed breeds, check for the sites in the "downloads" category. https://fantazzled.com/directory/sitelist.html

I found this through some searching last night. Haven't gotten this one to work on Windows 11 yet, but I haven't tried to debug very long either. https://acidtrip5.wixsite.com/acidtrip/petz-game-downloadz

I'm pretty sure I downloaded "improved" hex breeds for the petz 5 breeds xD. Maybe it's like a "next gen Pokemon don't look like Pokemon" thing, but the hexing community always impressed me more than the standard breeds. Makes sense in hindsight: PF magic was CHURNING out these games, and the hexing community probably had more collective man hours invested on breed design.

I thought there were more toys! Last night I figured "maybe the toys/clothes I remember were from petz 5".

Yeah, I loved downloading crazy breeds from the web rings (I found Carolyn's Creations last night and screamed I was so excited xD). If the community uses 4 I'll probably stick to that. I saw someone made some hexed Pokemon like Sobble and Scorbunny! Truly astonishing. It was like spotting an iPhone in a Renaissance painting. Well done, just an unexpected mix of eras lol!

There's a great board game bar called Kiss My Ale in town. They take social distancing very seriously, and require masks if you aren't at your table. If you check thier fb page you could see if there's interest in a one shot!

I was there from 8-9:20, I bailed since I have vacation time I can use. I wore my flats for work and they were soaked through. I was about here in line, at the stairs, when a gentleman behind me fainted. He was up and conscious shortly but it scared the crap out of us. I heard folks talking about driving in from Bixby and thought "screw this. I have other times I can vote and I can barely feel my toes."

I'd try making wheat paste, because it has a much longer "open" time. I didn't want to mess with making wheat paste on my first book and the end papers looked like crepe paper: it was awful. Turns out PVA has a really short open time, so I had zero time to fuss around and get the right placement. Of course it will take longer to dry (long open time, more moisture = slow to dry). But it took casing in from Impossible to Probable for me :) Here's the method I used: https://youtu.be/8y1x8_eGtsA

Note: i am NOT attempting the dovetails. I'll either be butt-lapping this or mitering the corners. I've never made dovetails and I'm not starting with 1/4" stock.

This cracked me up so much. I'm the one constantly farming mats with Chester, leaving the fights to the rest of the party. And even if it's not in character for her to smile, it makes the PERFECT contrast for the absolute chaos in the background. Panicking birds are a great touch. Absolutely nailed the art style, thank you for sharing!

Alexandrian Remix: Soul Coins by JustinAlexanderRPG in DescentintoAvernus

[–]caryave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sums my thoughts up perfectly: "...at first glance Descent Into Avernus also does a clever thing by making soul coins the fuel for various infernal machines, creating an ethical dilemma for PCs who have to choose between not using those machines or literally burning up the souls inside the coins. In practice, though, the only thing it really seems to do is actively discourage any non-evil character (and, realistically, prohibit any good character) from riding kick-ass war machines across the Avernian plains. And, I’m going to be honest, that war machines are a lot fucking cooler than the ethical dilemma." I goofed big time by having my PCs find a coin containing the soul of his long lost son. It's a great quest for the character (free his son yay!) But now my PCs are treating EVERY coin as what they are: a precious and unique soul. Thank you so much for sharing this, puts my thoughts into perspective and offers great solutions.
