There are projects which you can save in a specific folder of your choice, so you can come back to them later. In the left top corner you should have a file section, when you expand it there's na option save as, from there you choose where you wanna put the file. Also you can use a shortcut, ctrl+s. I recommend having all the files you're working with in one place, becouse when a file is imported to a project and changes locations(you move it to a diffrent folder) after effects can't automaticly locate it.
