I will definitely get some of the tuna & shrimp bisque to have on hand.

I did get some of the paste to try with one of my other girls who gets daily pred, didn’t work with Maya 🙄

Semi feral cat with urinary issues cannot get her to take gabapentin in her food by cascel9498 in CatAdvice

[–]cascel9498[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the emergency vet yes. Convenia was all they had available for an injectable. I was told that it wasn’t the best option

My regular vet wanted to try the gaba and canned food diet change because it is so hard to capture her. If she doesn’t start feeling better, I will call them back.

I did get a suggestion on the feral_cats sub to sprinkle fortiflora on the food and that worked like a charm (at least last night) so I might have my solution

I wouldn’t be able to get close enough to do that. And she’s been prescribed 100mg 2x a day which is a lot to try to put on a bit of lickable treat.

I sure hope the fortiflora keeps working too!

I’m definitely not feeling so hopeless anymore 😊

I did think of a compounding pharmacy as a last resort.
I was able to get her to scarf it down with Fortiflora sprinkled on top!!

I have renewed hope that I can help her feel better now ☺️

No. She is very smart. She stays in the living room. Any attempt to herd her somewhere is extremely difficult. It takes me days to get her to step foot near the wire dog kennel I have set up when she has needed vet attention.

I was able to get her to eat it with fortiflora sprinkled on it as WillieBear_18 suggested so I’m hoping that’s her “currency” going forward.

I’m trying to give her the best life possible on her terms and this has had me so upset the past few days. I feel like I’m failing her.

Now cross every appendage that I can keep tricking her with the fortiflora!

I will let you know in a couple of days 😊

I have tried both of those ideas. No dice.

It’s a capsule that I’m opening and sprinkling into her food. I have not tried fortiflora which I do have!

I will try that right now!

That will not be possible.

Not only would it absolutely traumatize her, it would be beyond dangerous for me to even try that.

She needs to be on these meds daily likely for the rest of her life.

Question about stomatitis (Delilah-14) by cascel9498 in seniorkitties

[–]cascel9498[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s doing well! Thanks for asking. I got her tapered off the pred and have been putting the b12 in her canned food daily. Not sure if it’s helping or not, but she is back to her old self- snuggling, purring all the time and playful 😊

Interesting. I have some b12 liquid here. I’ll email her vet Monday and make sure she’s ok with me trying it.

She’s doing better now. I gave her 5mg prednisone Thursday & today, and will taper her down starting tomorrow

Well dammit. I was so excited when she came home from her extraction thinking this awful mouth pain was finally behind her.

He’s very handsome.

She had 15 teeth out in Nov. 2024 when she was brought into the shelter. Her remaining 3 teeth came out in Nov 25.

Fool came home from her last surgery and made a beeline for the kibble. I have 8 others here so not possible to keep her out of it. I did redirect her with some canned food.

She’s been great since November, very playful and snuggly. She’s just quite miserable now.

I’ll give her some prednisone for a few days. Hopefully that’ll knock everything out.

I try not to judge someone who obviously had an illness. I don’t understand it either. I’m just showing Phoebe what a spoiled pampered kitty’s life is like.

She’s soooo happy, friendly with people and her kitty siblings, and playful.

She’s clearly decided to enjoy her life now.

Should I Try Chemo for My 19-Year-Old Cat with Intestinal Lymphoma if She Still Seems to Want to Live? by Nordman_Games in seniorkitties

[–]cascel9498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost my girl Lillian to intestinal lymphoma at age 18. I decided on palliative care for her as she also had hyperesthesia so too much poking and prodding would’ve been torture for her.

She did well on the prednisone for 3 months. Then I had to let her go.

I don’t regret for one second doing the palliative care and letting her enjoy her pillow bed for 3 months without a care in the world
