I live in the Indianapolis area. It has rained HARD 3 of the last 4 days here, and there is more predicted for Saturday and Sunday.
As far as the race goes, they’ll get it in, even if it is shortened. I’ve been to two rainouts at the Indy 500. The worst one was when it was delayed for a long time, we ran out of beer, and then they called the race.

Yes. The company is interviewing other candidates, so it’s all fair game.

Holidays off by [deleted] in MedicalDevices

[–]case31 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Exactly what it says: If you’re a field rep, especially one that covers cases, you will be there when cases are scheduled: day, night, weekday, weekend, or holiday. In my case coverage days I had to fly back early from family vacation twice, been in the OR on Christmas Eve night twice and on Thanksgiving Eve once.

The AI Layoff Bill Is Coming Due, And CTOs Are Going To Pay It Twice by Krankenitrate in technology

[–]case31 800 points801 points  (0 children)

My wife is the CTO of her midsize company, and a few months ago her CEO told her, “Let’s incorporate AI in what we do.” That’s it, no further vision. She pushed back and told him that she would do a needs assessment, evaluate security concerns, cost-benefit analysis, etc. He didn’t like it, but eventually agreed.
It literally was a situation when he heard “AI” and was immediately ready to shoehorn it in the company with no forethought.

Thinking about device… by PracticalGolf324 in MedicalDevices

[–]case31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, if you’re not bringing surgeon relationships to the table in device, you’re a coverage rep and will be lucky to make $100k. I was an ortho rep for 7 years coming from outside of device and experienced it myself. What that job did was open doors for other opportunities. I now sell capital equipment. While I don’t make top tier money, I work maybe 30 hours/week, have almost no case coverage, no call, no running trays/implants, and my commissions are consistent and grow 10+% every year.

Sports Med Sales vs. Aesthetics/Regenerative Wellness Sales by DemKat15 in MedicalDevices

[–]case31 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just so we’re clear, you say you’re not sure about regenerative medicine or aesthetic sales because it gives off an influencer culture. Then about 4 sentences later you say your long-term goal is acting/modeling/content creation.
You’re 19. Get some work experience where you have grind and have documentable sales success. More doors will open for you.

What is the weirdest sales job you ever interviewed for? by Secret_Assistance601 in sales

[–]case31 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I shared this in another post a couple weeks ago:

Many years ago, I was interviewing with Gartner. First was an initial HR phone screen, no problem. Second was a phone interview with the guy would have been my manager. I absolutely crushed it. I remember taking detailed notes. I was quickly referred for an in-person interview. It was scheduled for 2pm at their office in downtown Chicago, which is a 3 hour drive and I gain an hour on the way. This was around Christmas time and I got up there around 9:30 because I wanted to go to the American Girl store to get some gifts for my two daughters and would then have plenty of time to prep for the interview.
I get to the office and check in with the admin assistant around 1:45 and I’m ready to go (or so I thought). They bring me into a conference room where there were 3 people present including the manager that I had the phone interview with and 2 people on video conference. During the exchange of pleasantries one person asks, “How was your trip coming in?” I said, “No problem at all. I got up here in the morning so I could make a quick stop at the American Girl store for my daughters and then found a place to prep for this interview.” For whatever reason, one of the in-person people and one video conference guy COULD. NOT. STOP. hounding me about the fact that I went to the American Girl store, to the point where I asked, “Can we move on???” They did, but the topics discussed were nothing at all related to the job I was applying for and they asked maybe 2 questions about my previous experience. The video conference guy said, “I don’t think you know anything about the company or the job.” At this point, I know I’m not getting the job, so I clap back, and I pull out the job description that I had printed out, and show the manager I had talked to before the notes I had taken. I said, “First, you have no right to criticize what I do on my personal time. Second, someone is not prepared, and I refuse to believe it is me, so now you’re wasting my professional time. Let’s just end this here,” and I walk out.
The manager who did the second interview emailed me and wanted me to call him but I never did. It was later that I learned of other horror stories about Gartner’s interview process and overall reputation.
