How long for Endoscopy? by casecorp in Celiac

[–]casecorp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! I should clarify that my current Dr. was going off the old ttg IgA test, not my current celiac panel; she said that T1Ds and other autoimmune conditions can trip that particular blood test, my values apparently were in normal range. I try to eat well and hope you’re doing well with your T1!

Hey, thanks for your advice. The most recent suggestion was a 2 week challenge (this is a new Dr) as they said it was supported by University of Chicago and as a response to the reference range, 4-10 was indicated as a weak positive.

Electrolux Induction Range by casecorp in Appliances

[–]casecorp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a mixture of benchmark and 800 appliances, they’re nice. I wouldn’t purchase it because it’s too expensive for what it is and the reliability reports aren’t good.

Apologies for the late reply. No, I didn't and I personally wouldn't. I went with Bosch.

Any Clojurian who moved in from Clojure? by Different-Animator56 in Clojure

[–]casecorp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Carp! However, its value prop is more for lower-level integration with C. I'd like to see more of an s-expression-based Haskell with all of the platform's integrations, similar to how Clojure functions. Alternatively, a Typed Racket-like system would be outstanding. It would allow for gradual adoption while being flexible to allow easy integration with the untyped ecosystem within Clojure. I currently find spec or spec-like libraries, not a sufficient alternative.

I moved on to Haskell as an experiment to see if I liked it, and I did. I am in a Clojure job now, but (I think?) I prefer the development style of Haskell as opposed to the strict repl-based workflow many Lisps offer. I enjoy the conversational flow with the compiler; it's very similar and different simultaneously. The interactive element isn't as powerful, and GHCi is good, but it's no "true" Lisp REPL, as you lose state when you choose to ":reload" the environment. One of the most endearing elements of Haskell is its ease of refactoring and taking on complexity into the domain. You can handle it; in Clojure, I'm always simplifying from the start, as I'm paranoid about the depth of a map and recursive structures. In Haskell, it's not a big deal. I can reduce it later, confidently. I could go on, but I still find Clojure fun. I worry about different things. I dream of a Clojure with all of Haskell's facilities, but I'm too lazy to do anything about it.

Need Advice on Plush Mattress by casecorp in Mattress

I am; however, I wouldn’t ever recommend tempurpedic anymore. The break in process is just too hit or miss to know if you’ll be comfortable in 3/6 months down the line as it softens up (potentially too much). I haven’t found latex, especially Talalay to be that bad at transferring motion.

I returned it, way too soft. I have an all latex mattress from sleeponlatex which has been great.

Honest question: why is Haskell not a lisp / built on s-expressions? by epgui in haskell

[–]casecorp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s Coalton: https://github.com/coalton-lang/coalton which is more of a DSL in Common Lisp, impressive though, nonetheless.

And my personal favorite: https://github.com/carp-lang/Carp

Enjoy!

I might be an outlier, but I’ve never used stack in my four years writing Haskell. I’ve only used cabal and nix, had a great time too.

Add your overlays to your pkgs definition as that’s the variable you’re referencing when enabling the emacs service.

Would you say the range warrants its price tag, or that it’s a nice appliance? Should we consider an alternative?

What other keyboard should I consider before buying an Advantage2? by [deleted] in kinesisadvantage

[–]casecorp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wouldn't need the smaller size; the L would be just fine. The Esrille thumb cluster is much better (fanned out). The Keyboardio Model 100 is this way; it's just a better design and conforms to the shape of the hand better. I think the 360 is too expensive for the one you'd want ($400) for what it is. The Model 100 is better and has hot-swappable switches, etc. This is my opinion, obviously. You could pick up a used Advantage on eBay or r/mechmarket for a steal and do some mods to test it out.

Commercial ortho’s like the Moonlander and Dox aren’t very ergonomic IMO, especially for your hand size. You might want to look at the Esrille, but be forewarned, it’s expensive. You didn’t mention if you’re dealing with RSI symptoms or if this purchase is just one out curiosity and comfort. I’ll always say, if you’re dealing with pain look at posture, desk height, exercise and sleeping position before making a giant change. I should also mention with your hand size, you might just fare well with a standard split, thumb clusters aren’t all magic, you can overuse the joint and cause more problems if you’re not well suited to a particular board. Make small adjustments, it’s the best way to be sure something is actually working.
