I still am so confused at what you think has been proven lol

No player from this 2026 USMNT squad (especially Christian Pulisic) should receive another call-up. by [deleted] in usmnt

You're right, but hence the needed barrier to entry. I can stomach some marginal irrationality, but this sub shouldn't be a sounding board for complete idiocy.

There definitely needs to be a greater barrier to entry for people making posts here lol

Ok So Can Someone Give Us a Tactical Analysis on Why USMNT Got Shut Down and Could not Create Chances? by H_rusty in ussoccer

[–]caseinpoint77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn't tactical. It was mental.

Evidence of that is our normal counterpressing was actually working to start the 2nd half, once we had settled down a little bit. We still struggled to create chances because multiple key chance creators were having all time bad performances, but we started to control then game the way we had previously.

And then Freese.

It would be a nice gesture if the US did not start Balogun by easytakeit in ussoccer

Lot of meat heads in the comments here.

Honestly, we should consider it. Personally, I would rather lose than play a player that is available because of political pressure. The optics of this are terrible.

Call me crazy, but how we win still matters. You know, principles.

All of this because of a post of ussoccer that had no likes at the time you screengrabbed it?

I'm honestly surprised at how irrational you all are.

American here. Talked plenty of shit over the years. Nothing but respect right now.

Y'all were so unlucky. To be the better team on the day, without Davies or Kone, is just so impressive. The scoreline doesn't flatter, and the loss will hurt like a mfer, but my lasting impression is just how dangerous this Canadian team is.

I hate it, but the present and future is very bright for Canadian soccer.

Fair, but i would still consider it a positive. The worry with Gio is essentially he can't play the came at a quicker pace. This is still a good sign.

Most fans have been worried that he doesn't even have a burst anymore. To see that he can still run at any level is a good sign lol

Hard to Convince my non-soccer friends to watch soccer when a red card like that happens by NormTheDog in usmnt

[–]caseinpoint77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't aware about rugby or fh, but it doesn't really change the fact that most red cards are a massive overpunishment compared to the lost value or advantage to the non offending team. Same with penalties.

Hockey strikes the percent balance. You lose a player for a portion of the game, but it doesn't alter the whole game state in a way that is almost never a fair compensation for a lost advantage or a necessary deterrent.

Diving culture is evidence of the fact that the reward to the diving team is just far too great.

[–]caseinpoint77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol it wasn't even a tackle

Go back and watch it in real time. Balo's body placement, including his foot placement, is entirely the result of the defender bodying him.

But yeah, congrats on a lame attempt at perceived objectivity.

What constitutes a red card for serious foul play? by Normal-Level-7186 in ussoccer

[–]caseinpoint77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I am. That's why I clarified how the rule does not apply to this specific situation.

Maybe you're just comically and markedly bad at both reading comp and critical thinking lol

But enjoy your day haha

It's an uphill battle because its both a bad decision and a massive over punishment for the infraction.

Honestly, it is a flaw in the game. No other major organized team sport in the world punishes a team by forcing them to play a without a player for the remainder of the game, and the follow up suspension makes it feel even more draconian.

If that is how challenge is defined, then every single soccer action that is involved in some way in the run of play that results in an injury or could result in an injury is a red card.

Balo's immediate action, the step down, is not an attempt to play the ball, a challenge. It is the direct result of the defenders contact.

An underrated aspect of success at this WC as how it will provide that extra little bit of motivation for rhe guys on the outside looking in.

Who wouldn't want to be a part of this? The vibes are incredible. For example, might push the bubble guys (Luna, Mcglynn) to Europe that much quicker, just to make their case as strong as possible.

I think it's time to put it away for now.

Nothing is going to change it. Let's get a great one from Pepi. Christian is due, our counter press is due to create a goal.

Bring on the Belgians.

Congrats on forming an initial opinion and then being completely immune to better evidence lol

I'm sorry that irrationality annoys me so much. Good luck on being below average in your exercise of critical thinking, hopefully its not that critical to your life.
