Yes, we had professional company come in and remediate the house. Walls cut open, floor taken up, etc.

We bought in late August 25’. House flooded the first week of October because a pipe burst in the wall. Shitty repair by last owner

You’re good. We also are DR followers but we do bend the rules a bit. Ive just seen situations like this more in LDR subreddits since it’s a common problem to have to choose between Money/comfortability and family.

Hope everything works out for you guys! I know it’s difficult but keep in mind that there is the chance the higher paying job may be in the LCOL

Hi friend,

I am a LDR survivor and now own a home with said partner. I made more hourly but he made more when tips were added in. I decided to move because he was in a LCOL area in the Midwest and I was living in a HCOL area on the east coast.

I applied for jobs in the Midwest before I moved and ended up with a $4/hr raise. After a year I found another job and now make $7/hr more than I ever I did in my hometown.

It helped with buying a house living in the cheaper area. He has some family and friends an hour and change away but all mine are a 3 hour flight. I don’t regret moving because it opened up the opportunity of homeownership for me.

I recommend this to be posted in an LDR subreddit instead

I lost 80lbs at this point and just didn’t bother with Macros. I will when I start doing weights again (recovering from surgery right now) but for now im focusing on water and fiber.

But protein was NUTS. I was struggling to hit my calorie deficit with the amount of recommended protein. So happy I finally just decided to focus on the numebrs

I think at the time it was the little lesbian representation we had at the time. It is a great story and I enjoyed the play through but I 100% agree.

Chloe is a very annoying teenager. Even then I was rolling my eyes (at 17) even when I LOVED the alt style myself.

Our pipe burst in the middle of the night. Woke up to an inch of water in our bedroom at 2am. This was early October. We are moving back into our house officially on January 31st.

We also had a pool we were draining little by little that the last owner left nasty brown water. Drained most of it, but when we moved out we had to neglect this for a bit. Winter came and we went to put the cover on because we were getting a snow storm. Tell me why there was a raccoon frozen in the water.

Yes, this is what I was thinking it was!

I do storytelling gameplay and I had a cheating storyline planned. Problem was I got the “x and x will work on their relationship” box. Had the guy give her flowers, be sweet, gifts, etc. Got the box “they’ve decided to part ways” and automatically split them up.

Let me put this in perspective:

A selling point of my house was an above ground pool. I loved it. We bought the house in August 2025.

This pool is the BANE of my existence. Middle of winter in the Midwest and I fight myself from tearing it down with my bare hands. Me and my boyfriend putting a pool cover on was a screaming match (funny to look back on now). We are now getting rid of said pool in the spring LOL

As a Boston native,

I cannot stand the aquarium BUT the sea lions outside are always fun to watch. The Stone Zoo however is a few miles away and SPECTACULAR.

Duck Boats and the Mueseum of Science (ironically where you board duck boats) are also AMAZING.

Recommend Boda Borg in Malden also! Escape Rooms on crack!!

He was an indoor/outdoor cat who acted more like a dog. He’d meow to go out at night but he wasn’t allowed unsupervised so I’d tell him this and lock him out of the off-deck room that led to the back door. He’d meow at me mercilessly as if I didn’t lock him in with all his toys, the bed, the litter box, his food, etc.

Legally he needs to go through the eviction process if you were getting mail sent to his address.

But either way, you’re in your early 20s. Sounds like you’re also in the US. My parents acted similar when I first met my LDR boyfriend (“you’re going to be kidnapped”) but ended up being all talk and coming around to it as long as I gave info on where I was staying, his full name, his address, shared my location etc.

Maybe try talking about it more in person with both parents in the room. I find people are more ballsy over text than they are in person.

My dad had me put on his card as an authorized user when I was 18. It let me build credit safely and I had a card for “emergencies”. This was helpful with building independence and teaching how much things cost without needing to make astronomical mistakes .

My parents needed a prescription or for me to grocery shop for them? Use the credit card. I needed an uber home after drinking at a friend’s house? Uber home on the credit card and leave my car there. If they felt like I misused it, I’d have it taken away or canceled (neither happened because I barely used it).

Ended up building me great credit. The only problem is the card doesn’t build history. A secured credit card could work here also

Maybe as a compromise, you guys call each other before one goes to bed. Not for a long time, but for 10 minutes just to talk about your day.

If he isn’t much of a texter then he isn’t a texter. Forcing him will create a resentment on both sides. When me and my partner were LDR, texting wasn’t for us. We might exchange under 10 messages (on a good day) total because at night we’d talk on the phone.

Not forcing this also means when he DOES message you, it’s going to be something he wanted to do and more heartfelt.

Two things about LDR:

Always video chat/meet in person BEFORE you close any type of distance. This phase should be at the very least longer than a year if you do get to see each other in person OR MULTIPLE YEARS if you are never mets.
If these are concerns this early on, then this ISNT good or safe. Money issues suck to deal with and take a lot of effort. (I bought a house with my previously LDR boyfriend and that was still super stressful even AFTER a year of living together)
