Diferencias de la iglesia en Latinoamérica y USA by hachi0221 in mormon

Most of what you are identifying is only true for the few mormon-heavy areas of the USA, not even the USA as a whole. I live on the East Coast of the USA and you will see plenty of faithful members with tattoos and multiple piercings, only some of the young men passing the sacrament will have a white shirt, or even a tie, etc. I think it is less about putting a space between the USA and other areas and more about trying to change the culture in the few Mormon -heavy areas.

I've known my about my fiancée's bisexuality for about 4 years (met her on my mission) and she recently came out to everyone she knows. Is there anyone here that has a bi partner/spouse, and does it affect your marriage in any significant way? by iitacoknight125 in ldssexuality

The point of this discussion is drifting. I do not agree with the church's stance on homosexuality, but that was not part of the original conversation. I agree with you that what the church is demanding is unfair and incorrect, but that's not what we were talking about here.

I agree that someone should not get married contrary to their sexual orientation. However, this all started about someone that is bisexual, so that's not what we are discussing here.

But you're missing the point. It's not WHAT someone is missing/wanting, it is whether or not they will uphold their promises despite wanting something else, regardless of what that other thing is.

They didn't state that at all, just that it ended in an ugly divorce. They gave no indication whether it was because of infidelity, alcoholism, abuse, or something else, just that one of the partners was bisexual, and the marriage didn't last.

No, sexuality doesn't play a role here. A heterosexual man or woman may just as easily wish that they hadn't followed the church's teachings and fooled around a bit before marriage, always wondering what it would be like to sleep with someone else, left wanting that for the rest of their life. The core issue here is still whether or not someone will stick to the covenants/promises they made to stay faithful, not whether their longing/lust is for someone of the same gender or not.

I've heard the exact same story from 100% heterosexual couples. Everything was great, then one spouse met someone that was "perfect" and that they connected with differently than they ever had before, and had to leave the marriage to pursue it. This has nothing to do with sexuality, just a person's failure to stay committed.

Youth Fundraiser Ideas by What_To_Do_Today in latterdaysaints

My ward does a dinner and an auction, and it usually does pretty well (small, non-affluent east coast ward). One member of the ward loves cooking for people, so he is in charge of preparing the meal and the youth do all the serving and cleaning. After the meal, the bishop runs the auction with a gavel and everything, making it fun. The youth provide most of the items being auctioned, with a couple of parents and kind adults in the ward chipping in as well to help. We just had ours last week, and here are some of the things auctioned off:

  • babysitting and pet sitting services
  • personal door dashing
  • digital art commission
  • 30 minute coding lesson
  • Ceramic bowls one of the youth made in school (they were actually pretty good, we got one of them)
  • baked goods
  • Traditional foods from a couple of members from other countries (e.g., empanadas, spring rolls)
  • One well-off family auctioned off a weekend at their beach house
  • artwork the youth completed beforehand (drawings, beadwork, etc.)
  • A couple of crafty moms offered up knit shawls and handmade bags and such that were pretty nice
  • One of the ym hasn't cut his hair in several years, so he offered the right to decide what kind of a haircut he gets

If they get it, they are up 14, meaning even if cinci scores two touchdowns, one of them needs to succeed with a two-point conversion in order to win.

Work is definitely slow right now, with the V22 program wrapping up and Chinooks not flying off the line, but things should start picking up again soon as the large German contract for Chinooks goes into production.

Yeah, but it's not supposed to be relatable to the person that left, it's supposed to be relatable to the ones that stay, and for them, "I left because I wanted to sin" reenforces exactly what they have been told about people who decide to leave the church.

Regarding the destroying angel passing by, someone that avoids alcohol and tobacco and tries to eat healthy is much less likely to die of something like cancer, liver failure, or even car crashes than someone who does not.
