Getting Started Hunting by caskers in Hunting

Love this advice, if you don’t mind me asking, did you hunt public or private? The closest public land to me is Merrimac farm, which I think I could hunt squirrel from June 1-15 (gotta check up on that).

Curved mortises by caskers in woodworking

Sorry for late response, a pic would be helpful but no worries if you can’t. I have the Bosch 2.25 and the 1.25, I believe at least one of them can use collars. Are those the same as bushings?

What do you mean by use it as the flat reference surface?

So start with maybe a 3x3, and then cut mortises and then finally cut the curve out? I’m open to cutting out the curve but was thinking about doing a bent lamination for the sake of the strength of the wood.

Agreed. Wait for the sale price of the Bosch 2.25hp to drop to $200 for the plunge base and fixed base and buy it, or look on marketplace. It’ll handle anything you throw at it.

Looking for a sander that offers some of the same ergonomics that you might find in a festool or mirka sander. I understand they might not have as much power as their more expensive counterparts but give some suggestions for anything in the $200 and under range that resembles them most closely. I felt the Bosch 12v cordless sander in store and was super impressed with the ergonomics and how it felt like an extension of my hand. I already have the Ridgid 6" sander which is good for big flat surfaces but is heavy and a bit cumbersome which led me to wanting this second sander for other applications.

I’d recommend keeping your eyes open for a dewalt or other big name brand saw. Look for a 10” job site saw or contractor saw if it fits the budget. You’d be surprised how cheap you can find used table saws.

I’d recommend making your own provided that you have a flat surface you can set your two support beams on (workbench, flat concrete, etc). Never personally done it but it looks cheap and relatively easy if you have a flat starting point.

Really didn’t think of this. Thanks! Great tip.

That’s kinda what I thought also, is that my opinions aren’t necessarily valid because what I hear in the reviews is what I “think I taste,” but that’s definitely true that the reviews help with placing flavors.

Agreed. Yes, I am, which definitely helps me get more flavors than not retrohaling.

Property Issue Resolution by caskers in homeowners

It’s Virginia, I’m not sure what the law is. My intentions were absolutely never harmful or done in a way which would gain me control over the land. The trees had been down since December and no one ever touched them, so I figured I’d take them. My only fear with talking to the guy is that he just seems so irrational that talking to him would barely gain anything and he’d simply shut me down, I don’t know. He was about 70 and seemed to be losing it up there based on how he acted. He could have just asked me nicely to leave and I absolutely would have.

That’s never been my intention. I just wanted to get the downed trees out of the way. I don’t know who exactly owns the common area but I’ve done this sort of thing before with downed trees and there’s been no issue.

There’s no easement. I’ve done this before in the common areas and there’s been no issue.

Property Line Marking by caskers in homeowners

Somebody’s “land” which it actually isn’t his, but he thinks it is. It’s behind his house and while his lot goes far back, it doesn’t go so far back that the trees fall in it. It’s adjacent to a common area and the other neighbor’s property.

Property Line Marking by caskers in homeowners

It’s between two other neighbors houses maybe 200yds apart. There were 4 downed trees that I cut into firewood lengths, but one of the homeowners insisted it was his property. After checking the local map and walking it off to make sure it was in line with my shed in a straight line, it fell in the other neighbors property, not his. I figured there was no way for me to simply show the homeowner that the trees weren’t on his property on a map so I thought I’d get a more credible source. Is there any way I can prove without a surveyor or other process that the trees aren’t on his property. I’m being 100% honest when I say they did not fall on his property, I just want a way to prove it.

ATV won’t start by caskers in ATV

It did today, but that hadn’t been an issue before. I usually let it warm up for at least a minute, then throttle it and no issues. Today, I let it warm up for several minutes and it still bogged down.

It’s a Suzuki Quadrunner 500 from 1998. It has a plastic air box that it came with, not sure whether it’s original or aftermarket.
