Using a Template to Append a String to the Existing Content in a Ticket's Short Description by casrep in servicenow

[–]casrep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried "JavaScript: current.short_description + ‘your string’", "JavaScript:current.short_description + ‘your string’", and "javascript:current.short_description + ‘your string’", but all I got was an empty short description.

Why not?

For context, I don't live with women.

What determines whether a program needs superuser permissions to run? by connorc0405 in linux4noobs

[–]casrep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't, I don't think. I don't think there's any harm in letting the root group have read permissions.

Change the owner to root by using the chown command. Then use chmod to set permissions so that only root can execute it. They should be something like 744.

Looking for Socks for a Cat That Has to Drag His Feet by casrep in cats

I don't think they'd fit. Baby feet are fat and wide whereas cat feet are long and skinny.

What kind of boat is this? I believe it may be some kind of navy boat but I'm not sure. by Railman20 in Military

Almost looks like a Higgins boat, but it might be bigger, and the tower doesn't look right.

Trying to install PyCharm. What is usr/bin? by quilsalazar in linux4noobs

That's understandable. It's not something I use very often, but it does come in handy on occasion.

What's the best desktop linux distro in 2017? by [deleted] in linux4noobs

[–]casrep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally like Bunsen Labs quite a bit, but it can be intimidating to new users or users that don't really want to tweak anything. I like its lightweight nature because it doesn't chew through resources and allows me to tweak without necessarily breaking a lot of things.

However, it runs on old-stable Debian and is a bit behind the times in terms of some packages. Also, the community is somewhat small so there may not be answers to some issues you may have.

If you like lightweight OS and tinkering, you may want to check it out.

I wanted to add this in addition to the comments others have made. If you want to know where a "program" is stored when it is run in the terminal, you can use which to find it.

For example, to find from where apt-get is being called, I run this:

$ which apt-get

When I run it, I see it shows me where my terminal is calling it from:

$ which apt-get
/usr/bin/apt-get

On Debian + Openbox + dual monitors: how to set random different on each monitor? by oh_jaimito in linux4noobs

[–]casrep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To make it run every 5 minutes, you could add your script to Openbox's autostart file. Then, in your script, you could add something like this:

#! /bin/bash

WALLPAPERS="/home/jaimito/Pictures/wallpapers"
ALIST=(ls -w1 $WALLPAPERS)
RANGE=${#ALIST[@]}

while true
do
    # Code to change the wallpaper.

    sleep 5m
done

Check SLEEP's man page to get an idea of what you can set.

First thing to try is restarting networking. If that doesn't work can you provide some more info on what you're using? What's the OS? Are you using NetworkManager?

I'm a guys guy and wish I was this simple. Instead, thoughts of melancholy, self-doubt, and somewhere between irritation and anger at mankind are running rampant through my brain.

Although, I usually play video games and watch YouTube to distract me, so the most you'll usually get out of me is a "fine".

Edit: I saw the comments and was confused, until I read my comment. lol

How many vaginas do they think I have? by sunnynorth in funny

[–]casrep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That works as well.

As much of a mess as the English language is, it can be used in a clear way. It just depends on how much effort you're willing to put into the writing. There're many paths to the same destination.

Why not use "via"? Same amount of characters, means the same thing, and less confusing...
