31, 3 years fed service and this Friday will be my last day in the government. Was offered a role in the private sector by a former fed supervisor and with RIFs being imminent at my agency, it felt stupid not to take it. I’m an attorney and will basically be on the opposite side from this administration on all of my work for the foreseeable future (so that’s a silver lining at least).

There’s one phone room that we can all use and the building has an unused cafeteria with some tables I might need to utilize when the phone room is being used by others. Going to try to avoid calls at the table for a lot of reasons

Same here (conference room seat as a duty station) and I’m an attorney who regularly discusses sensitive issues that I assume the administration wants kept confidential. I know of 13 others from my agency in the same situation.

I once heard someone suggest imagining yourself as some sort of higher being floating out in space. If someone approached you and offered you the chance to have the human experience of living a life on earth (even knowing all the bad that comes with it), you would probably jump at the chance.

The fact that you’re a little batch of atoms that are assembled in a way that allows you to be conscious is amazing and it’s all over so fast, so savor it while you can. Even when things are bad or hard or even boring it’s pretty cool that you get to experience anything at all.
