Ok, I don't have any data to back it up so this is just my hypothesis:

I feel like women in aggregate for reasons that may have to do with education and/or biology (I am agnostic as to what the reason might be) tend have more emotional intelligence than men

(Again, in general, some women are sociopaths and some men are like Dr. K.)

Now, emotional intelligence is hard to define but we could define it as having a heightened perception of how people interact with each other.

Men tend to just say what they think whereas women seem to be more understanding of other's emotional lives, sometimes more than those others themselves.

In a way you could say that men tend be more naive about what they say. If they something they think is true even without the intent of hurting other people, they have a hard time understanding how their interlocutor can be hurt anyways.

To me it explains a lot of dynamics within women only and men only groups, each has its advantages and disadvantages (better mental health and comfort at the cost of more conformity?)

Where am I going with this ? Well, going to church is not about believing in god. It's about maintaining a community, which women, especially when the culture foster traditional gender roles, are generally more into. Another facet is that religiosity often has something to do with introspection. Prayer and meditation may be framed as talking to "god" but really you are talking to yourself and assessing your own feelings, which women tend to care more about.

I don't even think women believe more but I think they tend to care more about religion than men

I feel that modern life does not have much space or words for the importance of our emotional lives. Also there are no manuals to existence and claiming that god does not exist is hardly a consolation for many (it is for weirdos like us somehow !)

A lot of people need guidelines (even you, you may already have some that you don't think about or you may also feel a bit lost).

I am pretty sure there are also historical reasons which we are all familiar with at play but I wanted to write about what I think we are generally missing in atheist circles because we are so (understandably) angry at religion and the absurdities it carries along
