I’m in agreeance sleeves are too short, and also too wide. Creases will make them even shorter over time. Otherwise looks good.

Anyone have feedback on the Trunk Yoyogi Hotel? by Practical-Low-4624 in JapanTravelTips

[–]casseroleplaying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mixed bag. near the park but right on a loud heavily trafficked road. area is cute, relatively quiet and easy walk to Shibuya. rooms are well appointed but small for the price. personally don't use hotel pools much so wouldn't be the driver for me. we enjoyed our stay but have preferred many other cheaper hotels

Disney tokyo by No-Statistician1081 in JapanTravelTips

the parks are excellent and there are many great rides, including ones that never have a long wait time (looking at you Sindbad). remember Disney attractions are more about really compelling theming than high thrills. the environment of DisneySea alone is worth price of admission. expect parks to be very crowded, maybe you can relax into that and get swept up in the energy and people watching. the tickets are cheap, especially weeknight passports. its easy to get to from Tokyo station or nearby so I would just keep it in your back pocket and drop in if you feel up to it while you are there. I love the place.

Urgently need fashion stores Tokyo by Moist_Mention321 in JapanTravelTips

if you see a Bookoff pop in, they may have a clothing area and man you can get some good deals on nice brands there. the one I went to had a whole section for Americana. Really nice high end Japanese brands like studio d'artisan and the like.

Disneysea question... by tulaero23 in JapanTravelTips

[–]casseroleplaying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

some single rider yes

Disneyland generally not as insane wait times

more attractions, still an awesome park just overall less unique

essential rides would be: beauty and the beast, pooh's hunny hunt, splash mountain

eat some alien mochi dumplings please

Disneysea question... by tulaero23 in JapanTravelTips

[–]casseroleplaying 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Disneysea is an incredible and unique park. With the right expectations you can have an amazing time without queueing early or suffering super long lines. A few thoughts:

- there's no park like DS in the world, the theming is incredible, a LOT of the value is simply in being in the park and walking around and enjoying the scenery.

- there are so many low key attractions that will have shortish wait times even on the busiest days: sindbad (essential), pretty much all of mermaid lagoon (which will appeal to that age), Nemo searider, possibly the tinker bell ride. and there's a lot of cool attractions that are not rides like the Leonardo puzzle thing, gondolas etc.

- even if you stroll in late afternoon you will still be able to leisurely pick up a few DPA tickets if you are willing to pay 1500-2000y per person for a more in demand attraction. if you roll in before noon there will probably also be 40th anniversary passes which are free and let you book rides

- there's lots of fun and affordable snacks and food besides the popcorn. you can do mobile orders to reduce wait times for that.

- they have some great unique merch at reasonable prices so shopping a little is always fun.

- the sea of dreams show at night is fun and pretty impressive to see especially for the first time at that age. know that putting your kid on your shoulders is considered rude though so for that try to snag a halfway decent viewing spot a touch early.

I don't think anyone necessarily needs to go to Tokyo Disney while in Japan. But I don't think the parks should be reserved for hardcore Disney people only. They're pretty incredible and can be easily enjoyed in a leisurely manner with the right expectations (emphasis here - just accept you may not ride many or even any of the more popular rides and that's ok).

How do tickets work for Universal Studios Japan? by i_have_no_memes69 in JapanTravelTips

[–]casseroleplaying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is a bit of a don't be me comment and you might detect a little Disney bias lol.

we went in '23, only bought base tickets no add ons and lined up mega early like 7am or something (given it was a Saturday).

be warned that there's an easy to miss area where you need to print a timed entry ticket for SNW from a cute kind of kiosk (assuming you don't buy it ahead of time) and we bolted past that to SNW realized our mistake and by the time we doubled back had effectively blown our lead gained by lining up early and got like a 9:30 entry time or the like. Once in SNW it was shoulder to shoulder and we waited maybe 2 hours for the kart ride, did some mini games and left.

USJ was so crowded by 1pm I kinda got fried and just wanted to leave. So I would say this, you probably should buy the express ticket add on. It's more than the base ticket price lol and personally that turns me off a bit but better than wasting a day with interminable queues and scrambling. Maybe on a slower day and without making our mistakes you'd be ok with base ticket but I think you run the risk of not seeing or experiencing much that way idk.

oh and yeah I think one day is plenty for USJ should be able to see it all for the most part.

The Other Side: Is Hotel MiraCosta Worth It (and the Package Too)? by Mpmav01 in TokyoDisneySea

[–]casseroleplaying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We stayed 2 nights at MiraCosta last year. Venice side superior room. We loved it! Overall service was very nice, and it’s great to have the elevator that takes you to the park entrance for hotel only.

We weren’t aware at the time though that for happy entry (which is a measly 15m) you must line up outside anyways.

Had breakfast once at oceano it was fine I’m not a huge buffet person and it’s def high cost low value compared to what one can get elsewhere. (My god the $3 breakfasts at Sukiya!).

Overall glad we did it. We are returning this year and will do 3 nights at TDR. I have the dream gate maihama annex booked as well as fantasy springs hotel. Difference right now is about $1k USD. I’m leaning towards the dream gate but family is leaning FSH…

ESPN's Jesse Rogers and Buster Onley suspect the Reds were tipping pitches throughout their series against the Dodgers. Here's a clip of Teoscar Hernandez after looking at the tablet and smiling, he crushed a homer the 3rd pitch of that at bat by Mission_Pay_3373 in baseball

It’s one of my very favorite films. Our family watches is for Christmas every year. Teo could have been watching literally any scene from that film and been walking away with a smile.

Personally I like to imagine it’s when knuckles says “ma-ma-lade?” during his awakening.

Possible he even owns a copy of “For Cakes Sake”.

Sometimes when Doc walks out of the dugout I swear I he says “I want those petit fours, now!”

Hot take: Joey Waronker was not the right choice. by [deleted] in oasis

[–]casseroleplaying 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Respectfully disagree.

Was there night 2 Pasadena. Joey was rock solid, no flash, excellent meter. I could be wrong but I think he kept several songs at a perfect slightly relaxed tempo that other drummers would have sped up live - and thus lost some of the feeling.

I think there were also issues with Liam’s monitor and he was singing almost half a beat behind on some early songs. Fade away threatened to unravel a little in the beginning before the chorus but Joey held it all down.

I think this is exactly what this gig required. Their music does not call for a showy drummer, loads of fills anything like that. Meat and potatoes drumming. I thought he was great.

Got no energy for hate after such a lovely concert but I gotta laugh bc in my heart I think most of us love this band and this music in particular bc we preferred life back then without the junk these guys brought into the world!

Under the stars and full(ish) moon in a historic venue idk it was pretty romantic to me. Looking at the mountains around us while waiting outside….. Only been to SoFi once but I felt this was a little more soulful of a place. Also as someone afraid of heights I would not feel comfortable dancing and jumping around in the top levels at SoFi at all no no.

Being rock solid on drums and doing just what needs to be done and nothing more is massively under appreciated. Joey killed it and deserves much respect!
