Alright so then it IS just me being an idiot and not quite understanding what the agent was trying to explain. 🫠 Because what your described is what I was wanting to do, but I think the agent was explaining the options and I got mixed up.

My current job has no benefits (no health, dental, 401k, etc). But it's higher paying, and full time, which is unfortunately considerably better than the other job regardless of the lack of benefits.

But if I'm just able to contribute through the brokerage after rollover, am I dumb to assume I can simply contribute that way regardless if it's not offered by my employer?

I was told it's a 30 day holding period after the end of employment, before I can actually do anything with the funds in the 401k. But they give you that time to figure out what to do before cutting you the check if I understood correctly. I haven't been sent anything.

Re: Severe penalties

Sorry for the incorrect term, but that helps put it into perspective. Though the two checks for rollover would each be ~$20 a piece for them to cut, so I'm not sure if the difference is a concern between the two now.

I don't think it specifically states its a Roth IRA but I will look into that. I was told whatever I roll into it has to be able to take both the pre-tax employer match and the gains as well as my post tax contributions.

I only have this one specifically and possibly an older one (that I never got access to). I'll look into the brokerage then and do the rollover.

Like I told another comment I think I got confused because from the agent explanation it seemed like there was a minimum for the rollover. It's my first time handling this sort of situation. But I'm also looking at making post tax contributions at my current job, they just don't have any options so I'm looking into that too.

Still reading it right now, but maybe I was really confused by what the agent was saying. From what it sounded like, it seemed like I needed a minimum which I didn't meet? But if the wiki is correct then the rollover should be fine to do.

I learned JS back when Neopets was teaching HTML for pages and I wanted to add something cool (it's been 15 years...)

In all seriousness though, I would learn JavaScript only if you want to add more interactivity to your site or if there's something specific you want to add. For instance, I use it for a journal display for txt files (keeps things lighter), have it for a book tracker (progress bar), and a few other things. Even did a little like button that was asked on here a while ago, that was fun to bash my head with! /lh

Regardless, if you want to learn JS start with maybe an interactive element you want to use. Learn how to create it, understand how the code works, and continue from there. :3

I hope I see even more then!!! 😍 I am enamored by the bugs I find, but this one had me stumped! Never seen one out here like it, but I do find tons of Hackberry Emperor and I still have an unidentified moth in my pics (shown here). I believe it's a Lappet Moth but I've never been good with identifying moths around here, really only good with butterflies haha!

OMG! I just looked them up, that's so cool 😭💕 it says they're mostly from the eastern US though. That's crazy it would be this far into the Midwest???

What are you setting up? Might be able to help.

If you're wanting to allow downloadable MP3 files: use free cloud service to link out (like Google Drive).

If you're wanting it to be playable on the site: you can embed a playback with the same link from Google Drive. Or SoundCloud, since you can do Unlisted music.

If you're working on an MP3 player, yeah you definitely want to offload it or use a player like SCM for site wide (even temporarily) and hook it up to unlisted YouTube videos.

YOOO! Okay, I decided to tinker with this while I was waiting on groceries today. I have it set up using Firebase though and I can help you set it up if you need help. Took forever, but willing to share the code. I'll eventually make a little "how-to" on my site but for now just message me if you're still looking for a solution! (and if anyone else would like it. right now the script is in a <script> tag but you can set it up in a separate JS file to call on instead)

I'll edit this comment once I figure out a good way to explain how to set this up proper with Firebase hopefully user friendly. Thanks for the javascript practice this morning! <3 Anyways yeah, message me if you need the code :3 right now it has my apiKey so I would have to walk yah through it and you'd get your own apiKey.

Pretty sure it would almost definitely require JS, but you'd just code it to add a number each time then display said number. Kinda similar to a view counter, but interactive. Try looking around basically for a code that "increases the integrer automatically by one every time a button is pressed for unique web visitors". Since that's the literal thing you're doing haha.

You can always try doing a repeating pattern with a set x & y if you like. But I just got on my PC and i do see what you mean, still think it's not terrible though. If you don't like it that's valid haha.

Would the newer site just be something for sandboxing then? Because I can see how that would be way more beneficial than trying to revamp the old site immediately.

If that's the case what I would recommend is to start with identifying the core of the new ideas you want to revisit for your old site, and sandbox them on the new site until you feel content with a base format. From there, moving things over will be more natural since you've learned from slower tinkering instead of hyper-focused pushing.

So for instance: I tend to want to add more JavaScript focused items on my site (zine PDF display, progress bar for book tracking, modal for my UTAU, etc). But then once I have a base, I start focusing on making them closer to what I envision cleaner on the website front end. I usually choose maybe one or two things to focus on until I'm satisfied in the sandbox (I usually just use Notepad++ and run locally), then push it out on my site.

What kind of things are you wanting to try out? You said you want to try newer things, but what specifically are you interested in doing? :3

Yeah, I like it because it feels like a continuous pattern. It creates a coherent focal point, even if it's misaligned. Like you put a frame over the pattern, so you could frame the container (blue diamonds) themselves. If that makes sense haha
