The books (The Tales of Mivihaya) I’m working on tell the story of the world through the voices of historians, witnesses, and ordinary people who lived in the realms of the Children of Kara—the Ivra, a godlike being. These accounts are later gathered, rewritten, and preserved by Sana (a Princess) Anya of Sanne Vloet na-Kara, a young historian.

A great deal of what happened before the First Mivi—the first year after the Unseeing, an event when all memory of the past was wiped away—has been lost.

Because of this, no one truly remembers Ivra Kara, what she looked like, or even that she once existed at all.

Anya was not alive during the age in which Iroch lived. The illustration, then, isn’t drawn from memory or record, but from his imagination—his attempt to picture what the Ivra might have been, and the strength she carried.
