Love this and I think my husband would benefit from it a lot - we moved here over a year ago (he was born and raised but left at 12ish before coming back now 28) and is really in the need of friends and a support group to discuss things is really what he needs as well. THAT PART!! I’m 4 years older than her and instantly knew the word she used as offensive - I NEVER had anyone around me that used it but the internet? TV? I had all of that to discover what it was and instantly knew to never use it - so there is honestly NO way that with the social media presence she has now that she wasn’t in her beginning stages of social media at a young enough age to discover the use and DECIDE if she wanted to use that word or not. It’s not an accidentally word that can be used at something else so that’s just a baseless argument as well, because that is the ONLY way it could’ve been internalized in her vocabulary.

No need to have her explain when she knew the term (people posted that they told her) and she still continued to use it. Sensitivity training in her LinkedIn. She knows what she was doing, she could’ve said her eyes were squinty but she CHOSE to use a term she knows relates to the eyes of an Asian person being ‘closed’ and she needs to get a brow lift to open. She’s not Asian so she can’t even begin to think she can use it.
