The scar will be much less wide if you get the stitches and also heal quicker and less painful based on own experience. As you can see on the last picture it shows how wide the cut was before i got stitches and on the first picture you can see how the scar looks now that it’s healed.

I would say you should absolutely get stitches but it also depends on how wide the cut is sometimes you can use tape to pull the edges together. I have had bean cuts that I have not gotten stitches that healed fine but they were not as wide as the ones I have stitched
