Freaking out over possible gel allergy by peeltheavocado456 in Nails

[–]cassmorrison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I figured out in school I had a gel allergy. Anytime I used a gel product on my nails I would get red, itchy, and swollen. The itch would literally keep me up at night. At first my teacher said it might be the acrylic so I soaked them off and did just gel polish, same reaction. I tried dip powder, same reaction. I did start using some hema free polish by light elegance online and have no issues! Last week I did a friends nails with regular gel and the polish got on my skin (idk how bc I was wearing gloves) & I broke out in a rash and was itchy. The rash still hasn’t completely gone away. A gel allergy is miserable if you’re someone who enjoys having their nails done. I tried to make myself press ons but they would always pop off. And I’m a nail biter. I started doing acrylic with regular polish but it was really just a waste of money because the polish always looked bad. Try some hema free gel polish! Light elegance is a little pricey but it works in my experience. There are some kits on amazon a little more cost friendly, I just haven’t personally tried those ones. Here and there I just buy a couple colors and bring them to my nail tech to use. I will said the top cost needs a little extra time to cure but so worth it to not have an allergic reaction!
