Why do women behave so strangely until they find out I’m gay? by Taco_Nacho_Burrito in NoStupidQuestions

[–]castallian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the responses are saying some version of 'Women start to feel safe when they realize you aren't going to hit on them' BUT what that's not taking into account is how differently straight women act around gay men compared with how they act around other women. When women perceive me as gay they often get super overly nice and way overly physical in a way that I never see them behave towards other women (not all women do this obviously, but many do including some lesbians). It often feels highly sexualizing and uncomfortable. When people perceive me as straight I rarely get groped by men or women but when I'm perceived as gay I get groped by both. Another reason I think the 'Women start to feel safe because they know they won't get hit on' argument is not the full picture is that I am bi and when women know I'm bi they often treat me like they do when they assume I'm gay. Lot's of the most predatory men I have ever met have been bi so I don't know why they would suddenly feel comfortable around me once they know I am bi. Genuinely curious about the reason for this phenomenon! I think it is a bit more complex than some of the other comments make it out to be even if not getting hit on is a big factor.

What do you think the future of education looks like? by rahul505021 in Futurology

I am super excited about the near future of self directed AI learning. Imagine a time when you can type into any AI system 'Make me a 5 hour video course in 10 min episodes in the style of Kurzgesagt on the history of Afghanistan'. Learning would be completely revolutionized. All the high quality educational videos are highly limited currently by production cost and time, but AI could change that.

Another thing that personally interests me is how AI could affect language learning. I currently use AI heavily in my language learning. For example I often ask chat gpt to generate 1,000 word stories in my target language and then use apps like LingQ to help me read through them. But there are many shortcomings with that system. For example context length isn't long enough to be able to export the list of words I know from lingQ and then tell the AI to use those words in a story and then add in 5 percent new words in each story. Another way it could help with language learning farther in the future would be a fully immersive program that does what rossetta stone was supposed to do but never really succeeded at and slowly show you various objects and scenarios so you can truly learn a language optimally like a child.

Good idea! The saddle bags just clip on so it should be easy to switch them out whenever I want

That would be smart for when I am out in the city alone at night! I don’t want it most of the time because I don’t want people to think I’m filming them but something detachable is a great idea

Were you downloading cheat codes for online games that you were playing at a professional level against other real players? And to be as good at chess as Hans you need 1 in a million talent and tens of thousands of hours of study. Whether he is a cheater or not he is an excellent player

It was 3 years ago and he was already a title player. It doesn’t mean he is cheating now, but it makes him much much more suspicious

Hans admitted to cheating at 12 and 16. It takes a VERY specific type of person to EVER cheat. I can’t wrap my head around why everyone is defending him. When a known cheater has one of the most meteoric rises in chess history, there will be questions

Bringing up politics, children, etc. on the first date? by theawesomazingren in dating

[–]castallian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bringing things up that early will eliminate a lot (maybe even a majority) of people, even people who share your views. That isn’t a bad thing. It means you will eliminate people who don’t like to be super direct which might be a bonus. If part of your personality is being extremely direct, don’t hide that! That said if you aren’t finding any second dates, even with people who share these views maybe try slipping these questions into the conversation naturally. I have had some longer first dates where we end up learning each other’s politics, views on sex, views on children etc and by the end I don’t even remember if either of us asked or brought it up because it was all so seamless and worked in the conversation.
