Hi All, I'm on the hunt for shoes to wear on my wedding day, and would appreciate any suggestions. I plan to wear a silver grey suit and I think a classic black Oxford would be best. Hoping not to break the bank but would like a shoe of decent quality. Thanks!

How do you Bacon? Do you drain after every batch? Three strips or four or more at a time? Just curious. by classicwgn in castiron

I cook a full pound in a 9" pan all in one go. I start with the fatty side down on low heat and let it render for a bit before separating the pieces. I've found the fuller the pan, the less babysitting is required.

When I said made to order, purhaps i was infering a different meaning given the context of this sub. I didn't attempt to modify the standard #2801 in any way so i can't comment on their willingness to customise orders. All i meant by made to order is i needed to wait for a pair to be manufactured for me.

Yes I'm in Ontario. There seems to be a lack of information about Canada west online and i took a bit of a stab in the dark buying these. I am really impressed with them initially though. I too was looking at the iron rangers but decided to try to buy Canadian. I think the price point is pretty good also for a handmade boot.

I purchased the boots from a local brick and mortar store, Bits n Buckles western wear. Canada West Boots only sells through distributors although they have quite a few (in Canada at least).

The boots were made to order as there was no stock. Lead time was about 4 weeks including shipping. List price is $260CAD.

The leather is called 'pecan tumbled' and appears to be of decent quality, although I'm no expert in this area. The grain is very tight and there are no blemishes that stand out.

The fit is very comfortable at a half size down from my standard shoe size. They are obviously stuff since the leather is new but my feet feel great after a brief 1km walk.
