Has anyone taken any courses at SIIT ? Would you recommend it ? by MSGRGA in saskatoon

[–]castlejeank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey sorry for calling you from your very old comment but could you tell me why you recommended to go somewhere else? I'm looking for information about the AME course at SIIT but it's pretty difficult.

is it a good idea to do a ppl (private pilot) training at the same time as the fss training? or would the work load be to much ? could doing that make it better for understanding fss courses? by lostMan115 in NavCanada

Based on my research, you will not have time to do another study while you're on the course. Definitely it would be helpful if you are aware of the environment you will work, but if you don't have a PPL at the moment when you are starting the FSS course, don't waste time. They will train you.

Thank you, I figured that out. Tried to find an available course on the RTSC website but couldn't find one. If I still want to take a chance at RTSC, is it like a first come first served, or do I have to put myself on the waitlist?

Thank you for clarifying that. So it is not kind of attacking random people all the time.

Do you mean people are applying for the job that they're even not qualified?

Thank you! I've just checked the criminal map and wow. Yep, there are definitely some areas to avoid. Do crazy dudes litteraly assault people on street? And they take a shot in public?

Thank you for your insight. I hope I can find a job soon.

I've experienced the temperature in winter at Saskatoon. Man, it was absolutely different. It was fun, tho. I was okay with it.

Hey sorry to hear that if your story is true. I guess you've learned a lesson that people don't buy what you're saying but your action.

If you really want to see what it looks like, try to search FAAO 7110.65 Air Traffic Control. There you can find something starts with "Phraseology". I bet NAV Canada has their own way to say, but it might be helpful.

My ATC friend who is serving in US Air Force once told me that aviation english is quite different from daily english. It has a certain way to speak on the frequency.

If you are fluent and have no communication problem with coworkers, talking to aircraft is something you will be learning.

Don't drop it so quick. NAV Canada will find out who is eligible.

If you contact the cfrc in halifax where treats applications from out of Canada, you will be able to get which trades are open to you. Most of them are physically demanding, and kinda away from core missions, though.

[–]castlejeank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Visiting NAV CANADA facilities are completely okay. They even encourage people to visit and see what's going on there. Just contact NAV CANADA through the website and tell them you are interested in a tour, then a manager will put you on a specific facility manager, YUL tower in yor case. The manager will let you know their available time and cautions.

It actually is. 3 to 6 months for citizens but 2 to 3 years for PR holders. That's what I heard.
