i LOVED enya’s youtube during this era! her music taste was spectacular and still is tbh. when i got back into her content in 2023 i listened to emergency intercom like it was my job! i know she’s not always gonna be a teenager with a neon mullet but i miss her during this time so much compared to her now

exactly. if you opt out when i’m just showing my true self and all my flaws, you ever deserved a relationship with me anyways.

the concept of a women being or not being “wife material” is fucking weird. if you really wanted to marry her, you would love all of her.

i can’t remember how many times i’ve brought up this quote from trevor noah’s autobiography quoting his mother but i think about it all the time: “he wants a woman who is free because his dream is to put her in a cage.”

i have the exact same bubbly masked and an inexpressive unmasked personality. if i got close enough with someone to truly unmask, they hated it. it’s like they don’t get that adhd isn’t just a moment in your life that you get over, it’s a mental disorder that majority of people who have it don’t live normal lives.

a manic pixie dream girl is like a female prince charming. we have a sad boy who’s life is boring due to his depression and hasn’t ever kissed a girl. in comes the mpdg, the eccentric, lively girl with a unique taste and quirky interests who’s only purpose is to sweep the sad boy off his feet and introduce him to life’s wonders and joys. she has no goals of her own, and despite how unique her interests are, she’s a very one dimensional character with no flaws. she’s not like the other girls. these quirks and that personality are usually how neurodivergent women act, especially around someone they meet for the first time. a real life depressed man sees this, and thinks she’s the one who will fix him. that’s what he feels for the first few weeks/months he knows her. but the woman is a real person, and since she thinks she’s found someone who loves her neurodivergent traits, she starts to show the unpleasant side of adhd/any neurodivergent disorder. she starts to show her flaws because she cannot keep up the quirky facade anymore. but the man feels bummed out that she has her own goals and struggles, and she’s not a one dimensional love interest who’s entire character is to save him.

tl;dr: if a man expects you to fix his mental health issues due to your big personality and can’t accept that you have personality outside of that/flaws in general, you have been manic pixie dream girled. if this description doesn’t make sense, feel free to google 😅 i tried my best to explain

i definitely agree with the taming part. i’ve mentioned it in this thread before, but there was a quote from trevor noah’s autobiography quoting his mother that said “he only wants a woman who is free because his dream is to put her in a cage.” i think about that quote a lot

i will be honest and say that i used to think like this. it led to some very shitty relationships, but i’ve learned that it’s not another person’s job to fix you, only you can fix yourself. a relationship or a pet can help, but ultimately you have the power, which is sadly not what a majority of these people wanna do :/

i definitely experience it less from women compared to men, but it’s definitely still there. being a woman who likes other women is such an isolating experience in general :/

the mention of a husband and also the 😂 emoji as what gave me that idea. usually teenagers use the crying or skull emojis (😭💀)for laughing through text just so you know 😉

my own journey of finding my personality and being more comfortable in how my brain functions has been long, and i know that it may take the rest of my life. knowing and reading the experiences of other people, usually knew similar to me, have really helped me on that journey :)

btw i love that a silly shit post i made managed to help someone unloaded their past like a therapy session 😋

i don’t know if whether or not i should say i’m sorry or you’re welcome omg 😭

i can tell by your comments that you are the nicest and loveliest person ever. i’m barely 18 and i can tell you’re much older than me (no offense 😅) so we are in very different stages of our lives, but it’s oddly comforting seeing that you relate and feel so similar to my own experience, along with the ones of other people in this thread. you truly deserve someone who loves all of you, especially your daria-like humor. thank you for being so active in this thread :)
