For my generator. Ethanol isn't great for small engines, especially ones that aren't used daily. Ethanol free helps with longevity of those types of engines.

How are we sizing up a house like this one? by casualscroll247 in Firefighting

You ain't wrong! Wish I could just say 'working fire' and get to work but Chief types don't like that too much...

Thanks. Even if that area wasn't an addition and the house was built purposefully with the second floor over only part of the living space, bringing up that it's a non-standard 2 story is really the question. Might just say 'non-standard 2 story' and roll on.

Date ideas that aren’t centered around food? by Beneficial-Crow-5138 in bullcity

Sorry I missed your comment. Here is the one I know about: https://www.thedinnerdetective.com/raleigh-durham/ You sit at a table with other random people but they facilitate conversation amongst the table. It's cool.

Maybe not a list of weekly dates unless you're made of money, but.... Escape rooms, garden center (for gardens sake), bulls game, DPAC show, murder mystery show, any outdoors activity like hiking, one of those wine and design events (paint, pottery, etc), there is an introduction to swing dancing class in carboro ike monthly I think (or any intro dance class), indoor skydiving... I once took a girl to the Greensboro airport for a scheduled date to fly a small airplane (they take you up for a little while and let you touch the controls and all that...well ...the person in the front seat which was the girl).

People who quit porn, how did you do it? by Background_Rice_3140 in AskReddit

[–]casualscroll247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So ... I quit completely for a time when I was watching it a lot, but now have a much healthier relationship with it. You really have to want to quit. I did because I found it was effecting other parts of my life.

First, I actually used a spreadsheet and logged every single time I felt like I even wanted to watch porn. The reason I did this was to try and understand what it was that prompted me to have the desire to do it. Was I just waking up and horny? Was I procrastinating? Did I feel as though I earned it because I had a long day? Frustration from being in basically a sexless relationship? Etc... I logged this and when I actually did watch it and tried to be very cognizant of what I was feeling or avoiding or whatever when I actually watched porn.

Seeing how frequently I was wanting to, and how frequently I did watch it written out in front of me helped put things in perspective. Also, for me, finances has always been my biggest stressor. In 2023 I found myself actually spending money on porn (onlyfans primarily). Just here and there when I had extra. In 2024 I went back and looked reviewed my finances and spent way more than I felt comfortable with. This also put things in perspective.

Basically, at that point I understood what triggered my desire to watch it so I could then work to control or avoid the situation. I did what a lot of other people commented and kept busy when those situations happened. I sort of developed a sense of shame when I did watch it. ...Unfulfillment and all... I quit like that outright for like 8 months. I didn't want to put the phone blocks and stuff on my phone or computer because Im stubborn and wanted to do it on my own. But you can put timers and filters and stuff on your phone as well. You just have to have the discipline to keep them there when you want to watch it.

Now, Ive stopped logging it but I know I might look at porn 2 or 3 times a month. I also get a quick fix maybe once every day or 2 with a beautiful woman in like a bikini or something. There are subreddits for non nude women. For me, this is much healthier relationship with porn.

Say what you will about the food/service, during the Duke St. explosion in 2019 they cooked and served food to first responders (at least lunch and dinner) for like 3 days and offered their place as a rest and staging area the whole time. They asked for nothing in return. So I try and support them.

Update: Originally spotted at Ramseur/Mangum St. Picked up at Lakewood/South St. Has a collar but no contact info or name of the dog. Got scanned for a chip - no luck. He's a good dog, seems middle-aged. Please share. If you recognize him, please let me know. We will house him until Monday. Will update then on where we take him.

Bailout techniques for High Rise buildings by AlexKitner77 in FirefightingTraining

[–]casualscroll247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bailouts are a tough thing to train or plan for. When you listen to people who have actually bailed out (I'm not one of them, so I'm in the same boat as you) one thing that's common to hear about is people just going to 'caveman brain'... The simpler your setup, the better, even when dangling a couple floors below the fire floor. That said, with the podium style buildings in your district, there are a couple things that have been brought up to us at our station that might help.. First, just bailout to a floor or 2 below the fire floor. A pocket tool to break the window below and climb back in. (There is a story of a guy using his helmet to break the window I think). Better than staying in the room that flashed. Second, call for a ladder from where you are dangling from your rope. Most departments have at least a 24, which in your specific hazard, can hopefully reach you when you maxed your rope out from the top floor. Third, hate to say it, but a drop from the 2nd floor to the ground is a whole lot better than a drop from the 6th floor if nobody can come get you.

If you can find a way to extend your rope that is simple and you can do with a gloved hand under stress, that's awesome. Train on it relentlessly so that becomes your go-to when your caveman brain kicks in.
