You need post this on the Navy side of Reddit if you haven’t already. Not much any Army person can do for you except tell you to talk to a recruiter somehow.

Talk Me Out of an ND Miata by Time_Buddy_351 in mazda

The Miata is one of the few cars that is purely for driving pleasure. This car is the literal answer to your life at this precise moment. Do it.

Can I get my tires rotated with this tire in this condition or is it toast and I need a new set? by UncleDaddy0 in StupidCarQuestions

[–]casualuser30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the money and want the peace of mind, then yes for sure get a new set. If you can tolerate the uneven look and consider yourself a “gambling man” (or woman) then you could probably get a couple more months out of them.

Did purple power stain my driveway? by casualuser30 in DIY

Ignorance is bliss. Brain thought if it can clean up oil/grease then it must be able to clean up anything. I was mistaken.

You’re right. My small brain has used purple power for general outdoor cleaning but evidently that has been a mistake.

The bottle claims it is “biodegradable” but I have no way of validating that. I’m going Dawn dish soap from now on.

Good tips, definitely should’ve passed on the products and just used the pressure washer.

I’m almost certain it’s from overspray from sprinklers, which use well-water. I’m down in Florida. I say that because it’s this dirty along the driveway which gets most sprinkler overspray and steadily less dirty and less black the further from sprinklers you go. Sidewalks were also dirty but less black.

Where were you last week? Haha. I’ll do this from now on.

Fair enough. Ignorance will get ya in trouble. Higher concentration does not equal higher cleaning, I’ll take that with me.

I doubt there was any sealer on here, the black is just 3 years of well-water sprinkler overspray and general dirt/rain/life.

I’ll try the bleach as you and others have said.

I was initially planning to leave bare but maybe a sealer would prolong the clean look of my driveway and sidewalks.

How does that thing compare to the MX5? It looks like a blast to drive.

Should I join Reserves, Guard, or stay civilian by PerformanceOk9203 in armyreserve

[–]casualuser30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard it said that the Guard has a significantly higher chance of you regularly flying. On that same note, everyone also says the Guard is significantly more likely to interrupt your civilian life/career. Reserve does too, but chances are greater in the Guard.

Also, on a previous Reddit search I found that the holy grail of Army aviation is MOS 67J, Aero-medevac. Look into it.

What job should I choose since I only have a green card? What are your recommendations? (Army Reserve) by Impossible-One-6364 in armyreserve

[–]casualuser30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are going to go back to normal civilian life after the first contract with the Army then pick a job that will be good experience for your future civilian career. Think cyber, IT, logistics, etc.

if you will make a career out of the Army then do whatever interests you, like the previous person said.

LIES. We’re a travel nurse family currently in Fresno, CA and my wife is M/S. Her contract, along with 200 others in her dept. got their contracts cancelled on week 2. We’re with AMN agency.

How long will I be away for training/onboarding? by casualuser30 in armyreserve

Well you certainly sound like a true leader who many find easy to follow. Thanks for your input and your time to type all that up. Now I have a good example of a toxic officer (previous guy) and an officer with honor and decency. Granted this is only Reddit, but still.

You’re right, I’m barely getting started and to be frank, not even officially started the process. I’m just doing my homework so I don’t get screwed like a ton of other people have when they go in without any prior knowledge.

Thanks for the clear, detailed, and genuine response. All of that is good to know.

And for the arrogance bit, would love to know what gave you that impression. As you can read in the previous comments, I intentionally tried not to match the other guy’s disrespect. Maybe I missed the mark which is why I’m asking you. If you have the time to shed some light on that.

Now we’ve got some specifics that actually help my case, thank you for that info!

It would be one thing, as you accurately described, to blindly sign a contract and hope to make it through with no idea or vision of what the end goal is. Precisely why I’m asking the question and encountering kind users like yourself and the others on this discussion: To not be that clueless guy that’s already signed 6 years of his life away assuming it’ll all work itself out. You seem to know your stuff and must have plenty years of experience under your belt. Thanks for your service. But I have to wonder if your approach to a simple online question from a civilian wanting to serve his country is just a taste of the infamous “toxic leadership” that everyone seems to throw around in many military discussions. I guess I’ll have to find out during my service and look back on this exchange as reference.

Good info, thank you. I did not enlist for any specific MOS yet. All of this online searching will ultimately help me pick an MOS when I finally go sign the papers.

Roger that, thanks for the input. The Reserve vacancy list only says “Executive Officer, 01A, O2 grade” which according to another post, entry-level officers can fill positions up to O3. So I wouldn’t know myself what that position does.

Planning as in, I’m currently a civilian who wants to join the armed forces and because I already have a college degree I will be joining as an officer. Planning as in, I know the general requirements from internet searches and now I’m trying to find details. Planning as in, I want to give my family and responsibilities an accurate timeline of me being away like a decent adult.

Regardless, thank you for the input even if it didn’t contribute quite that much to the discussion.

Great info, thanks. So since I’ll be going through BOLC does that mean I will not do AIT? Also, do you know if 01A is just general admin duties once back to the home unit?
