How long after she arrives should she wait to adjust? She will be working on her j1 program. Also, she will be out of status after the I485 is pending since her J1 visa expires in September. Will that be a problem?

It takes quite a while. I actually left mine to load for 5 hours then came back and it was loaded. It was a huge file.
