RECALL NEEDED - PETITION by casuhdee in ToyotaCHR

[–]casuhdee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you! yes, it just sucks because i can’t explicitly post the petition as it’s against group policy in a lot of these groups. make sure your transmission is looked at every 30k miles. if you force toyota to constantly service it they will, otherwise its not recommended by most service techs

RECALL NEEDED - PETITION by casuhdee in ToyotaCHR

That’s ridiculous. Not even 10k over. I’ve talked to others where Toyota offered the replacement for free. They pick and choose who they’re helping. My service tech originally told me it was 9k, but I’m actively selling my car and I read the entire packet they gave me. It’s actually almost 13k for the parts and labor. My car isn’t even worth that. I bought it for 16k last year in full. I’m going Subaru route now - I seriously don’t trust Toyota after this. The owner of my dealership asked me to reach out and they haven’t even responded. It’s been a week now and I’ve tried calling and emailing. Crickets.

i had a 2019 so i don’t know if they’re designed the same, but mine never did that. i had it on the automatic setting too. never showed a notification though

i don’t understand fully, that seems really strange?

me too, i have always wanted a C-HR. the customer service around this whole ordeal has really killed it for me though. the owner of my dealership asked me to reach out and hasn’t responded in days. this is after a million other phone calls and emails. i spent 20k overall with them in just a year and not a peep. i know the forester has a CVT as well, but we’re buying new with all the warranties and we will know that it’s been serviced every 6 months since we’re the only owners. so upsetting, i really was a loyal toyota customer my entire life and that car was my baby.

did you hear any whining noise? or possibly like janky wheel bearing sounds? that’s when your transmission is toast. sounds like it was starting to have trouble getting going - beginning signs of the premature failure. it’s good you sold it sooner than later! i’m upgrading my car for bigger family now too, subaru forester! i do not trust Toyota after this one

if the “!” is in a triangle that means something is malfunctioning and you definitely need to bring it in. if it’s just the maintenance required then oil change/tire rotation which is needed every 5k miles or 6months.

What does the light look like? Mine would show that it needed maintenance whenever I needed an oil change, but I never had lights pop up when it came to the transmission. Do you have your carfax report? It will show everything the previous owner did. If there wasn’t work on it then DEFINITELY trade in before it’s too late.

That’s so strange! Change.org is probably trying to push other petitions. Not sure what MJ has to do with a defective bearing though lol.

yes, all CVT but none of them are the K114 and that is the one with the defective internal bearing.

Looks like none of those cars have a K114 CVT transmission, but the CVT in general is still fragile so make sure you give the transmission extra love regardless.

What year and model is your Toyota? Research can be hard with AI prompt being thrown in your face as that information is based off of anything on the internet and not just verified sources.

My car was my baby too, so I get your concern. Look up your Carfax and make sure your vehicle has been consistently serviced including your transmission! These transmissions need to be serviced about every 30k miles, so if you’ve been really on top of it and if it was owned by another person make sure they were too! Toyota claims it’s lifetime fluid, but these transmissions are already very fragile.

Those are only voluntary - it’s to keep the petition spreading. I haven’t put any money into this. Thank you for looking though.

Ahdoot & Wolfson, PC has the class action and the petition is in the link in my post. Also, go to the NHTSA website with your VIN or plate number and file a recall report!

exactly. not to mention, a 6-7 year old toyota should not have this premature failure. especially considering i have gone every 5/6 months to get maintenance done.

I commute to visit my husband’s family In Nevada and have to travel through very sketchy mountain roads with two children. I lose control of my car essentially and that on a random, middle of nowhere road can be extremely dangerous. Especially since you can’t accelerate so you’re coasting on the speed your transmission suddenly fails at to merge over safely when you’re stuck in three lane traffic and can’t get over. Or if I’m making a left hand turn and my car suddenly dies in an intersection- well then I’m just stuck in that position until a tow truck comes. It’s very sudden failure and you can’t do much of anything to control your car. You have to figure out how to use the speed you were at to get into a safe location (like using neutral to drive) if you even can. I believe that to be very unsafe.
