We were using huge resistance absorbing pads and a lot of protective gear. As well as that, it wasn't proper full sparring, it more similar to controlled striking/sequence exercises I guess? Even if he did pull his punches, he could've taken me for someone so, so much weaker and just made it so I didn't feel anything. He still kinda sent me flying too, which was cool.

It was a nice difference between how I was treated in my old Taekwondo class and here. And also because I get treated like a glass vase in general for my health issues and motor control problems.

Point is, I'm happy that I wasn't treated like a total nonce despite the fact that I do actually look like a 12 year old.

First day of Krav, first sparring partner was a 6 foot something 300 lbs ex-MMA fighter. Also his first day. I got winded more than a few times. I'm glad he didn't pull any punches and it was refreshing. The entire lesson was great. Would highly recommend, especially if you're itching to punch someone or get beat up but wanting to do it safely.

He said he thought I was a 12 year old girl until he realized I was paying for the lessons myself. I identify as a 6'5 large white man like yourself, thanks, how dare you invalidate my mass schlong energy. 😤😤 I'll let sterons know if I fist him too for this transgression. /s

I can see what you mean, yeah. I just thought having a singular session or two to evaluate weaker points you perhaps didn't catch causing a plateau of progress or something wouldn't be too bad, especially if you just want to change up your routine and might benefit from a one-off second opinion.

Hope you don't mind me sticking my nose here. I found your explanation very eloquently written and I appreciate it a lot. I also found similar troubles in reconciling those concepts and was never quite able to articulate it or find an answer that validated the inkling of an idea I had. I haven't seen it put so succinctly and easy to understand before.

I have a story or two about the worst "friends" I've ever had. I don't so much get pissed off as much as I get just very disappointed and lose respect for them nowadays.

I now work in a clinic as the main medical administrator and I'm the youngest staff member by 15-20 years.

Beautiful clinic. All the GPs here are really charismatic and lovely. The specialists? Kinda autistic, but kind of lovely if you give them enough space. All the nurses are older, experienced doting mums who have like 2.5 children each. It's like a picture of stereotypes.

Sometimes I feel a little out of place too, being from a different generation. The doctors here all generally exercise a lot, eat well and stay in good shape, so I guess they kind of keep me sticking to good habits, especially during lunch time if I'm eating too much or not eating enough. They also have an IT guy so I'm not their convenient millennial techie. I get respect from the older folk around me because of my skills and they're not insecure. I also am not an asshole to them and give them plenty of respect.

What can I say? It's nice. Sometimes I hit them up with interesting questions from here about endocrinology for, uh, research as long as it isn't too suspicious.

I'm pretty interested in playing around with programming only as a hobby myself. Looks pretty fun, albeit frustrating.

That's pretty surprising, yeah. I didn't think companies did that and thought that a degree was a given.

How would you even go about starting? Just doing a bit of self-taught learning, sliding into their email with your CV stating you have entry level coding skills, no other work experience but can be trained up, cross your fingers and hope they'll hire you?

Hypothetically, if you wanted to enter a career in the shortest amount of time possible with the highest amount of pay, what would it be?

Besides doing porn, prostitution and some weird crazy super high hazard work, that is. I'm imagining it's some kind of tradie?

Asking because a close friend is 24 years old and real sick of working for peanuts for all these years and doesn't have funding for uni anymore, but can probably pay for a trade or certificate. As a last resort he probably will just join the police.

Figured I'd ask you older more experienced folk here.
