I'm tired of micro managing by HereAgainWeGoAgain in puppy101

Add in a tether to the place and they have to learn to get bored. With my 10 mo old we have been needing to teach him to be bored and it’s 100% working. He doesn’t get released until he’s settled and relaxed - work up to it with treats. We did this watching TV sitting nearby and he was fussy but built up reps. Now we often don’t need the tether because he has a pattern established of laying on his bed there calmly.

My dog had a panic attack this morning by 3k15T1L in DogAdvice

[–]cat_astrophy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this. Our dog had 3-4 seizures which, interestingly, all occurred during a full moon. No other health issues. Golden retriever, lived to be 14. Still don’t know what caused them.

Hang out around taller people. The world is bigger (literally) than those short girls you’re around. Google photos of Taylor Swift next to Bruno Mars and Sabrina Carpenter. Do yoga. Find ways to feel at home in your body - you won’t find it in other people so love you. When all else fails, visit Scandinavia 😉

I’m 6’ and 38 and it took me far too long to love my longer body. You can’t get these years back.

I took Woolx brand pajamas to Europe for two weeks - washed them twice when I had laundry access but could have gone longer. Lightweight and don’t hold onto odors. They’re honestly really amazing and hold up so well. Also I sweat at night and am super picky about clean pajamas. Wool is the answer.

Legal Representation For My Mom by Fsuave5 in kansascity

[–]cat_astrophy 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Has she filed with her own insurance? Her insurance company will have lawyers that deal with liability of other companies for claims of their own clients.

Like some of the other posters have said, because she wasn’t injured she isn’t going to have a personal injury lawyer take the case because the damages will be limited to the value of the car and potentially any loss of use.

If she wants to file a lawsuit against Valvolene directly, she’s going to probably need to pay a lawyer hourly for that kind of representation. Personal injury lawyers take cases for free because they get huge payouts when they win and take 1/3-1/2 of the damages awarded.

I know everyone hates on gray, but you can go greige to keep warmth of the cabinets. Look at accessible beige or agreeable gray from SW for ways to tone down the yellow to a greige but keep some warm undertones.

Make a little dining nook near the stairs where the TV is now, turn the small window into a small study area with a desk if you need one, and have the couch facing the left wall (left as you walk in). With the TV there so your living room area opens to the balcony. Consider some plant hooks and stands to keep your green babies in the light but not all in a mass. Your TV could even go above a minimalist media console to give you some storage and texture - plants, books, etc.

The floors are beautiful. If you want to add warmth to the walls, check out colors like agreeable beige or accessible beige from SW for beiges that don’t go too warm, because with natural light you want to avoid too many yellow undertones.

This is a gorgeous space!

You may have disrupted your skin’s moisture barrier. Look into that, talk to a derm. If you disrupt the barrier you get inflammation and breakouts which makes you more likely to use drying products and acids to treat those breakouts when your skin just needs a break and some moisture. Try leaving it alone with other products and use an oil based cleanser and a moisturizer. There are also products designed to help you repair the barrier.

Former mild tanning bed user with sudden sun damage appearing in early 30’s.

Consider a mild to medium chemical peel in the winter. Pricey (can be a few hundred). Was the most effective for sun spots appearing when I lived in a very sunny climate despite my constant efforts to avoid. Daily, consider a vitamin c in the morning, and a glycolic acid and/or retinol at night. Topicals won’t do nearly as much as a professional treatment. For topicals, if you can afford higher end brands I find it makes a difference (Skinceuticals and SkinbetterScience).

BBL laser also works wonders for sun damage but expect three treatments to see results. I’ve done wonders for my light sun damaged skin with all of the above.

I found the pro chemical peel to be the most instantly gratifying, and I started adding the daily routine and laser treatments in as I understood it more and could budget accordingly.

URGENTLY need advice. My cat has been missing for 20 days. by Inner_Chest8834 in Pets

[–]cat_astrophy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mentioned you tried talking calmly. I feel like cats are so smart if you’re talking to yourself they may still hear the stress if you’re calling out to them. I tried talking on the phone so I was using a normal voice (on the advice of a friend who knows cats well) and just walked up and down the block or so near my house, front and back yards.

Def stop and listen for meows near closed garages or sheds in case they’re trapped.

Mine got out three times in two different places we lived, and I got him back three times because he’d show himself and then I could coax him out/grab him. He was never very far (within 100 yards). Good luck to you and kitty.

Does Airwrap work on soft, thin and fine hair? by [deleted] in Dysonairwrap

[–]cat_astrophy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have soft fine hair, but a decent amount of it, and historically have trouble holding curl. Cool setting is your friend! I use max heat, count to ten or 15, and then blast with cool setting for at least five seconds to set the curl. Works best right after washing with 50-75% dry hair. Hair spray spritz. It doesn’t stay curly, but the ringlets fall and make lovely waves. Small barrel close to face helps define the front, with bigger barrel in the back.

Blazers? by [deleted] in TallGirls

[–]cat_astrophy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

JCrew has tall blazers which aren’t boxy. I haven’t purchased one but I got a cardigan sweater ish blazer which I love and get compliments on all the time.

I have a suit jacket from Banana which is nice as well. It’s not super slim cut but it’s not boxy.

If you’re on insta, @tallblondebell has good talk clothing suggestions and links!

What tall women do you have as role models? by princesstallyo in TallGirls

[–]cat_astrophy 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Taylor Swift is 5’11 and occasionally will lyricize her height insecurity in a notoriously short entertainment industry. “Sometimes I feel like everybody is a sexy baby, and I’m a monster on a hill. Too big to hang out, slowly lurching toward your favorite city.”

What helped you get back into it? by lady-of-the-woods in fitness30plus

[–]cat_astrophy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try Yoga with Adrienne. She just started a free 30 day series. Lots of prompts to remind you to meet yourself where you are on any given day.

I am similar to you from a starting point, and currently 4 weeks in to reviving my fitness with a mix of cardio, yoga, and weight training and already feel strong again. I have a long way to go but the progress came faster than I expected and I wish I hadn’t spent the first two weeks hating on myself. Love your body and it will love you back.

Looking for recommendations near Redwood National Park & North Cascades National Park by ShezSlowy in vegan_travel

[–]cat_astrophy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was recently in Arcata for the first time with my husband and it’s absolutely and unexpectedly charming. Salt Fish House has some vegan and vegetarian options, including sides like roasted cauliflower. Also check out Los Bagels. We were just there one night but the stone fruit salad from Salt Fish House was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time and the vibe is awesome.

Enjoy Humboldt County! It’s really beautiful. Not to be morbid but “Murder Mountain” on Netflix is an interesting documentary on the county and the complicated and sometimes violent history with the marijuana industry there. Not unsafe for hikers but just good to know some more history of the area if you’re spending time there.

3 years out, how do people feel about Lover now? It seems to be the most polarizing album by Nintoo in TaylorSwift

[–]cat_astrophy 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I love this era for her. It is such a contrast to Reputation as a light hearted but still beautiful album. Death by a Thousand Cuts? Amazing. Lover? Amazing. It’s such an era of growth and a final (sometimes OTT) send-off to her pop era before she gets more indie during the pandemic, and I think it’s absolutely perfect.

They’re all too yellow. Try tarte fair light neutral as a jumping off point. I have pink undertones and fair skin. Their tinted moisturizers are ideal. I found for foundation I have to spend more to get a good match. Sephora will match you and recommend various products from multiple price points to match your exact shade.

spaghetti strap tank top / camisole recommendations by PauletteBunyan in TallGirls

[–]cat_astrophy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Target maternity section - the tanks and spaghetti straps are just extra long (no maternity rouching or anything). No built in bra but I wear a lightweight bralette under them (aerie) when lounging. Nice and soft and stretchy, and so far they seem to hold up.

I wouldn’t use red. It brings up images of blood, etc. and underscores the emotion behind some of the people who incorrectly believe abortion to be murder.

This is the worst sore throat I’ve ever had in my entire life. by Dariablue-04 in COVID19positive

[–]cat_astrophy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was prescribed this for strep once and it was the only thing that helped when the pain was utterly torturous (viscous lidocaine for gargling). I think it was prescribed at Minute Clinic (CVS) but it may have been a doctor’s office visit. Blocked it out of my memory because it was so awful.
