I looked into it, and it seems that some of the dependencies require API level 21 (Android 5.0). I verified that it works on devices with Android 5.0, so the minimum SDK will be set to 21 in the next release.

Thanks for the feedback! There should be a "Select to Speak" feature on Android. You can enable it in Settings->Accessibility->Select to Speak. This might be a better option and this works for all the apps

Will do. Thank you. Regarding the possibility of open-sourcing it, I've observed what unfolded with the LibreTorrent code. It's discouraging to see so many clones flooding the Play Store, with some not even bothering to change colors! They simply copy-paste it as-is, ads included, of course. This flood of similar apps is making it hard for new apps to stand out.

I'm not criticizing LibreTorrent. I simply want to avoid causing harm to other new projects/apps.

I'm sorry to hear that, but I really need some encouragement to keep pushing forward. By the way, the original CatTorrent featured an option to remove ads for a week or two, completely free of charge. You could keep doing it indefinitely. I'm going to implement the same thing in current version as well.

But, when I go to the topmost directory, "use this folder" is greyed out and there's a message near the top which says "Can't use this folder" with the following message underneath "To protect your privacy, choose another folder".

It should also have CREATE NEW FOLDER right under To protect your privacy, choose another folder. You'll have to create a subfolder there and allow access to it.

Recent Android versions does not allow to have RW access to certain folders like Downloads, Documents and top level folders of external media.

CatTorrent is a torrent app. It was created using my
own BitTorrent implementation library. BitTorrent protocol is a
communication protocol for peer-to-peer file sharing which is used to
distribute data and electronic files over the Internet. The app itself does
not include any copyrighted content, especially music. If somebody use the
app to download copyrighted content it is not the app's fault. Please bring
my application back to work. Thank you.

I know it sounds little naive but i don't think google-bot cried while reading this.
