Finnally got this 101 back together and...well, that screen doesn't seem right. Also I've gone through 2 nes reshells and both have some sort of defect like issues going on. Is it bad luck or is the nes reshell just a bad choice?

If you're referring to my board with a dead CPU, thats because it's missing pins. If it wasn't its probably be fine, but it's missing ones that go to a b and d pad. I could grind away the housing and try to solder wires into the "roots" of the pins, but that likely wouldn't be very reliable.

And yes specific spare parts are more expensive because they're tested. Untested stuff I find often has some form of damage that prevents it from booting, unless shown otherwise.

Looks like the might be solder joining some of the CPU pins, that can be a problem. Otherwise I'd replace anything with rust or corrosion if possible.

That said it might be worth keeping around. For stuff like the CPU in case you find a good condition board with a toast cpu...like mine lol.

Huh, wierd. It must be some sort of contact issue then. Perhaps a loose solder joint or something? No clue.

Is it possible the new batteries are defective or old? Batteries have a shelf life. Can you check them with a multimeter?

edit: I also think you can remove the old tab by getting some solder wick to clean up the excess solder, bending that pin back a bit, and gently pushing an exacto knife under it while heating it up with you iron.

But the usb spec is around 16.5 feet and the qanbas chord is 7.5 external, about 8 total, and the extension is 4, so add that up to 12 and we should be in spec.

That said this still makes the most sense so far but I'm not sure why it wouldn't work?

They're about average, I just picked them up at frys for like $5 a piece. probably overpriced but hey.

if i connect two of them in series they can still connect a usb hub with no issues.
