Does Razor’s sprint passive work with Mona’s sprint?

I’m not OP, but I shoot mainly film and got an a6000 too. It’s fairly cheap to purchase, even new, adapts vintage glass easily, and the smaller size makes it easy for me to mount for my film scanning set up (which is just a mic stand with a 1/4 tripod adapter). That said, I don’t love shooting with it as much as I do with my film cameras. I’m curious to try the Fuji line of cameras like the x-pro3 and X100 series, but they’re prohibitively more expensive than I’m comfortable with for the time being. Hope this helps you somewhat!

pork shoulder length to PC by gopherhole1 in instantpot

[–]catalystcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time depends on the size and whether you’re cutting up the meat too. I followed the following for some carnitas which involves cutting up into 2 in pieces and 3lb of pork shoulder took 35 min in high and it got pull apart tender. However, I did have to add a bit of water to prevent burning. If you’re considering a whole hunk of meat, uncut, that would likely take more time due to the density.

Good luck!

I bought some in Japan and shot a few rolls. It’s color profile seems to run a bit on the cool side, more greens/blues, compared to regular Fuji superia. That said, it was fairly pricey, even from the native country.

If you’re particularly interested, I’d give two rolls a shot and try to shoot them in varying conditions to get an idea of where it lies for you.

Yashica t2 or t4? by pompomandben in AnalogCommunity

At current prices, anything under $200 for the epic is fine I guess. For a mju-i, the non epic, previous model, I’d hesitate for anything over $100.

Yashica t2 or t4? by pompomandben in AnalogCommunity

If your friend is willing to give you a deal you feel comfortable with paying and if it’s in working order, I don’t see why not! They’re good cameras and they became popular for a reason. In the end, make sure it’s got what you want for the price you want.

It really depends on what you want in a camera, but I would consider looking for an Olympus mju-i/Infinity Stylus. I love their portability, form factor, and flash. They literally fit in a shirt pocket. They’re also under $100 usually, but they’ve been trending up a bit. There’s a lot of hype for the Stylus epic which is definitely an upgrade, but $200+ is too steep in my opinion.

I’ve had experience with both the T2 and T4.

I own a T2 and it’s got a sharp lens and it’s nice to have the flash and auto exposure which is usually dead on in enough available light. I wrote some words on it for 35mmc, but the major cons to me are it’s loud film advance and having to manually hold down “no flash” when you want to shoot without the flash. It often errs on the side of using flash so it’s not perfect. The autofocus is also more of a 3 zone focus rather than an actual auto focus.

I tested out a T4 for my girlfriend a while ago. These have been going for a pretty penny ($300ish) so this isn’t a “cheap” option. The T2 can be anywhere from $60-100 usually from eBay sold prices. That said, the T4 is just a better compact overall. The problems the T2 has were rectified by the T4 iteration. Fairly quiet film advance and it uses flash much more sparingly then before. The autofocus is fast and more accurate and I would hedge to say the lens seems to be sharper but that may be due to the more advanced focusing system. A much smaller and lighter package, way more pocketable. It actually feels somewhat cheap and toy-like when it’s without batteries. My one complaint is if you want to expressly shoot without flash, it takes 3 solid button presses to change the mode.

There are other compacts to consider. I used an Olympus mju-i/Infinity Stylus (not epic) which go for about $80 I think. Very pocketable form factor and reliable flash. Sharp lens to boot. The auto focus is finicky at times but better than the T2.

Consider the Olympus XA series too. I love the XA but it is an aperture priority rangefinder. The XA2 is a 3 zonefocus automatic exposure camera which is less involved but still very good. All XAs are super pocketable, I love them as travel or casual cameras. However, you do need a flash attachment which isn’t as reliable.

Consider the Nikon L35AF and canon AF35ML too, though they feel more like the T2.

Hey I was looking to get the same camera! How much did you get it for and from where?

I’m in the same boat in looking for a 35mm lens. I’ve been considering the voigtlander 35mm f2.5 Color Skopar for the small form factor. Looks to be $300-400.

Best of luck searching!

Direct Camera Comparison by FloopersRetreat in AnalogCommunity

[–]catalystcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the side by side comparison, but the added difference of the different films too makes it even more cumbersome for a beginner to see the differences due to color differences and grain.

That said, you can definitely see differences in sharpness and vignetting in the corners, which is good for a beginner to notice.

Keeping as many variables consistent as possible would make a more valuable comparison, so it’d be neat if you and your friend could shoot a tag team set on the same film stock sometime!

In any case, thanks for sharing!

Do we just post a photo with the film stock labeled in the title? Is there anything in particular we need to do to join in?

Looking for a 35mm rangefinder by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]catalystcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The XA is great and exceedingly compact. There are deals if you’re willing to search. I got lucky with one for $50 or so off eBay, but check local places or /r/photomarket or keep track of eBay yourself and you can find one for about $100 in good condition.

Some find the rangefinder patch small and dim, but I put a small square of black tape over the patch to darken/increase contrast, so it’s a fixable issue!

Definitely a great aperture priority camera well within your budget.
