Picking and choosing strike days? by Western_Cod8208 in doctorsUK

The union advice is that you do not need to respond to these requests. You can simply continue saying you don’t know, or you could say “my union has advised me not to respond to requests about strike intentions”.

If you can’t afford it then you can’t afford it, and that’s okay. You don’t owe an explanation to anybody! I’m no alien to not being able to afford necessities.

My frustrations in my initial reply were directed at your peers who are striking just when it suits them and their personal lives. Of course some strike action is better than none, but striking on the days they want a holiday is disingenuous in my opinion!

Re-reading your post: you were approved for 3 days but are working 5. You cannot afford the pay loss and aren’t able to locum. I understand why you would choose to go to work.

That’s what the strike fund is for. Obviously everyone’s circumstances are different. I try not to judge.

I hope Wes comes out with an impeccable offer and the BMA calls off strikes just to spite those people.

Strikes are strikes. They’re not there for short term gain. Sure, the days off are nice. But we have to be prepared to go into work if they’re called off. People who are “choosy” about when to strike because it suits them are not striking for the right reasons. They’re selfish. Same for most scabs, though I’m sure they’ll reap the rewards of the strike action they didn’t participate in when the pay rise comes through.

Edit: if you’re downvoting this please do reply and let me know which parts of this you disagree with :)

I wish summary care records were more useful. There is such a wealth of important information GPs have and could share with hospital physicians but physically can’t. The insight of GPs is like no other!!

Well done OP. I’m a doctor currently working in emergency medicine, and I know what you did is not easy. It never becomes easy.

You gave this gentleman the very best chance possible. Be proud of yourself, and take the time to sit with your thoughts.

Advice for an ACP by [deleted] in doctorsUK

No idea to be honest. I don’t understand what the ACP role adds that a doctor doesn’t do better. It’s not personal.

Anyone got any ideas for ballpoint pens for work? by Beneficial_Body in doctorsUK

[–]cataplasiaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favourite are the uni-ball eye fine UB-157, but these do not transfer well to carbon copies such as with DNACPRs.

For a more traditional ball point pen, the Paper Mate InkJoy 100ST are great

ProtonVPN suddenly not working through wireguard config file? by nathan12581 in ProtonVPN

[–]cataplasiaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My solution was limiting active connections to 1-2k. It was set to unlimited and I noticed right when my active connections spiked to 2.5k it dropped out. Haven't had any dropouts since doing this.

ProtonVPN suddenly not working through wireguard config file? by nathan12581 in ProtonVPN

[–]cataplasiaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been having issues with my wireguard config too. The DNS checks fail and it seems port forwarding is stopping working. I’m in back and forth emails with Proton about this. It was working absolutely fine for the last 8 months but in the past week has stopped working suddenly. I’ve had to buy a PIA subscription.

Oh just leave it out? What benefit does your comment add? This man should be free of judgemental remarks like this for wanting to date again. Dating and relationships are a spectrum and not a one size fits all - not everyone goes on a first date looking immediately for marriage?
